This has happened more then once so I figured I will ask to see what you guys say. After power washing and once I rinse this is what I see. Running 20" surface cleaner with Honda 4000psi @ 4gpm and 25020 nozzles. Let me ad thatbthis happens even if i move at a snails pace and when i mean slow i might as well stand still. Should I try a different nozzle size and if so which size? I would appreciate any info guys. IMG_20160428_133741.jpg

try 2502 for arm with 2 nozzles

What's the GPM on that 1 nozzle. I thought that's the sane as what I have now. Excuse my clouded mind lol

There is nothing on a residential property that needs 4000 psi. You can do some real damage to a driveway with the machine you are using with 02 nozzles . Change out your nozzles to 25025's. Looks like you stopped or started in a few places without moving the surface cleaner. With that pressure you are lucky you didn't leave circular gouges. Are you using any cleaner? Downstream bleach and a good surfactant (soap) and 10 minute dwell and that would look great. You can probably fix that with a strong post treatment. Of 40/60 bleach in a pump up sprayer. You say it happened more than once. You probably stripped the cream off of the concrete. 3000 psi is the maximum you should use on a driveway. I probably run 1700 on my machine with 10 gpm and 300 feet of hose, and have never come across a driveway I couldn't clean.

I didn't down stream on this job. I have done other jobs where i have but still got the same results. I know the machine is a little excessive but its the only one I have for now. Most of the time I have other nozzles to knock down the pressure but I don't know what that would do in this situation. This just started happening not to long ago didn't have the problem before or at least I don't think, ibdidnt notice it.

Is their any benefit if ibwere to change the nozzle pattern, instead of using 25 degrees. I'm going to get some new nozzles tomorrow and see. I checked them couple days ago but who's not to say the inside is messed up.

spot on information right here. listen to Ralph and switch to 25025 nozzles so you can quit destroying the cement.

I'm going to do that tomorrow and get new nozzles and do my driveway and see if it still does that. Would it help any changing changing he degree any? I really appreciate all the help guys you have been awesome.

Ralph Do you pre treat every driveway and sidewalk you do? And what is a descent soap to add with SH

I would be willing to bet that at least 90% of the guys/gals on here are using 25 degree tips in their surface cleaners.

I'm in the other 10% then. I use 15 degree nozzles but then again I might clean 1 driveway a year if I'm lucky.

I pre treat every driveway. Let dwell at least 10 minutes. Treat the driveway and start cleaning the street gutter. That gives it time to dwell. I post treat as necessary. I use Roof snot from Southside Equipment. You can see when the soap hits that sweet spot where you can walk faster and not leave swirls or stripes. Temperature can affect dwell time.

Also no one asked you what surface cleaner you are using? If it is a Hammerhead, make sure the bar height is adjusted correctly. Sometimes it is too low and can scalp a driveway or whatever you are working on.

Sorry for the delay Ralph. Im usinv a whisper surface cleaner. I ended up switching out the nozzles to the a size you mentioned to knock down the pressure but im still getting the same thing as before. That was with out a pre treat on my driveway

If you are trying to clean a dirty driveway that has algae and embedded mold on it, not pre treating is a waste of time. Algae stains and embedded mold won't come off and you are basically spreading it around. It will start to grow right back the second you leave. Try pre treating and don't touch the driveway, for ten minutes. If you are still having the same problem then either you bleach is old and weak or you forgot to turn the machine on.

@ralph the picture with the striping wasnt a mold it was just dirt. I did another job today just dirty driveway. Did the pre treat and used yhe 2525 nozzles and got the same thing as before. On a side note did you ever finish the build with your harbir freight motor?

I went through two HF 22 hp engines. I got a Subaru 28 hp engine and blew that up. Using a Honda GX690 now, like I should have in the first place.
