Storage Doors

Given a bid on washing 237 storage doors. Doors are 10ft by 8ft - Aluminum.

A lot of oxidation. Owner wants them clean so they can apply some chemical that will remove the oxidation. They will apply the chemical - I will just clean.

When I wet my finger and rub across - the white powder comes off but some of the brown paint does too.

Should I be concern?
Should I use chemical (If so What?) or just hit it with water?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It sounds to me like he just wants them rinsed to remove teh dust, and dirt. This is a fast and easy job. It will only take a couple of minutes a door to get the dust off, and then he will do the rest.
As for some of the paint coming off, that is part of the oxidation. I would not worry about it.
If you really want to make him crazy, wash it with a GOOD truck soap, brush the door and rinse, all of the oxidation will come off, and he will think that you are a pressure washing genius.

Scott Stone.

Thanks for the advice.

I gave a bid of $2000.00 - doors are in pretty bad shape.

Ron -- I appreciate your comments -- you seem to alway give advice no matter what the question. Thanks

i am trying to get the biz. from the largest self storage co in my state. If i could land just this one account i could just do door restoration work as my career. They own 500 diffrent sites in NJ alone.
If you did visit that site i suggested then you know[if they are useing everbrite] NOT to use truck wash. It has wax and brightners in it,you dont want that. You need more of a stripper like chems for cleaning cement.
good luck and I dont mean to come off as a know it all. Just trying to help.

If they allow me to do the whole 9yards - I'm going the everbrite way -- If they just want it wash, I will use my alum siding housewash chemical.

Thanks for the heads up.
