This was the original thread where you can see some pictures of the trailer. CLICK HERE
Here anybody can download the raw files and the player for them. The quality is much better and smoother. CLICK HERE.
The converted (lower quality video) uploaded in Youtube HERE.

I have decided to start a new thread with all the information at the beginning of it. I apologize to the admins if this looks like spam, but I believe that this video is a very valuable lead and someone might be able to help.

First of all this is a great lesson for me and a gold advice to all fellow contractors:
Keep your expensive equipment inside secured place.

Thieves (especially in filthy Broward county and Pembroke Park Commercial Warehouse) are all over the place looking all day long for targets like mine and yours.

This was a 4x8 trailer with Hydrotek 5.5GPM Hot Water Machine, 100gal tank in front, 3 reels in back: 2 stackable black ones with 200’ high pressure hose (blue), 200’ water supply hose and another stainless steel Titan reel with ½ 300’ braided hose. In the middle, I had a Fatboy pump and a 15gal tank with chemical. That was an old trailer with a spare tire on the left. The new items on it were the machine (2009 and the Titan/Fatboy pump, 2009)
The serials for the machine are:
Model: SS35006VG
Serial: 200901380
Engine 21HP Vanguard: 02668899
I’ve done some modifications on the machine, so if someone sees a similar unit let me know and I will tell you exactly where my signature is on it.

The trailer was stolen around 5pm on 10/04/2010. The date on the following surveillance video is ahead with about a day and one hour.
The theft happened in Pembroke Park Warehouse at Pembroke Park, Broward County, Florida.
Right across my bay, there is a gun range and during the day there is a lot of traffic going on.
Security of the facility comes at 9pm and locks all entrances except one where they stay.

I strongly believe that this was premeditated crime, because these guys knew exactly when there were not too many people in front as usual, they had a rental truck, and by the video it looked they knew exactly what they were coming for.
The trailer was locked with a padlock, so they either broke it earlier or they hooked the trailer on top of the padlock and dragged it someplace else.
I have two surveillance video segments, each 15 minutes from the gun range store showing pretty clearly what happened. The two males came to the facility, passed by, came back, parked nearby and when they had a good moment they confidently hooked the trailer and left.
Unfortunately I was not able to identify the tag plate or any number on the pickup truck. I read that these videos can be enhanced pretty well, but I don’t have the ability to do that.
The raw video format is DAV file.
I am uploading the two raw files and also a player which can play that format. I also converted the file to AVI and uploaded it to YouTube, but the quality gets a lot worse after the conversion.

P.S. It is very sad and unfair when all of us here are working our a$$es off to make some honest income and sometimes that’s our “payback”.

I just paid close to $400 for city licenses, permits and inspections, but I am moving out of this warehouse and city ASAP. I was paying a huge rent for this warehouse and that pisses me off even more.
I pay all my insurances and fees such as workers comp, liability, auto and whatever else required by law so I can be honest businessman and good citizen. I really hope that the institutions I pay tons of money to, will take charge in that case or at least show some effort.

It looks like they were in there for a reason, waited for nobody looking and then got it.

I would check around both directions from where they left out of the property and see if there are any places that might have security cameras, could get a closer look like banks, convenience stores, etc... maybe they pulled into a place to get a drink or fuel and might be on camera.

Maybe show the police the video, they could be on video if you have the intersection cameras like we have here.

I might put in a description of the time/date and more info of the place in the description on the youtube video along with city and state and mention that this has happened there twice now and if they will pay for replacement or not.

If they won't then it might be something to make others out there think twice before using that facility and they might not like it but that is too bad, this is a fact with proof that theft happens there in daylite hours and they are not doing anything about it.

Maybe even some keywords picked to help your cause to put in there along with on these threads.

If you want, give me a call later on and I will talk to you about it.

Really sorry about your loss, that really sucks!

Chris, you haven't had enough dealing with the police. They are there to take reports and collect a paycheck.

I remember back when I was about 10 years old. Someone broke into a car at church. The police came and spent about a half hour looking at what little evidence they have and taking fingerprints. Of course that didn't help them much in recovering the few 8 track tapes that were taken, but it did help them put the thieves away for multiple years when they caught them. It was their first time to be caught, but since there fingerprints were found at multiple thefts they were put away for 4 years if I remember right.

Contrast that to as little as 12 years later. In Phoenix my best friend got his motorcycle stolen.(value about $1000) He called the police. They made him come in and make the report. After 2 months he found the motorcycle himself when one of his friends spotted it and called him. Then he made his mistake. He called the police. They told him to stay away from it. Then they responded 4 days later and confiscated it and eventually gave the thief probation. Meanwhile they would not let him have his bike back for 8 months keeping it as "evidence". Eventually they called him and presented him with a $2200 bill for "storage".

Oh the joy of living in a country where the police "protect (their pensions) and "serve" (their own interests).

PS. Don't shoot, It's just a phone in my hand. :)

Did you try contacitng U-haul that is one of their pickups. Show them the video and pehaps they can give you a name...

Like Tony said, most of the times as soon as the police find out it is insured they stop wasting their time.

I contacted them and they said that all their vehicles have ID numbers all around. For F150 units the number looks like bp****ag where the stars are digits. The lady also said that this happens often and usually police is doing their part of work. I am going to try to look closer to the videos and identify something.

I'm not just for whining and complaining about it. I'd like to someday discuss some options as to what we can do to turn the police force back into civil servants instead of masters.

How is it that the military with it's low pay and high chances of death seem to pull in so many honorable men?(chance of police dying in a gunfight in the US 1 in 18000 - chance of a soldier dying in Iraq 1 in 110 as of 2007)

Is it possible that the rigorous chain of command the military employs expels the dishonorable? Is that what we need in our police forces to bring back respect for citizens and their property?

Any ideas?

Elect better sheriffs, and be sure good police chiefs are appointed! Sadly, this is a political issue...
Imagine a sheriff campaign ad that states "I will take 2/3 of my deputies off of traffic enforcement and focus those resources on catching more intrusive criminals. Instead of expecting every citizen to commit a fine-able offense, we'll spend our limited resources on criminal offenses!
Who wouldn't vote for them? I doubt the D or R (or I) in front of the name would matter at all!

Its been my experience that a good number of stolen machines end up on eBay and Craigslist. Just not in the area where stolen. I'd be checking Craigslist for all of Florida and Georgia the next couple of weeks to see if it shows up.

Thieves are generally smart enough to pull the serial number off the machine. A good tip is to have the serial number engraved in a inconspicuous location on the unit.

A final option to identify the unit - some burners and pumps have serial numbers on them. Your manufacturer may keep a record of these numbers that you might be able to get from the dealer that sold you the unit.

Good luck getting your machine back.
