Standard store bleach

I am new to the house washing . I have to do a small building for a customer. I have not been around to look for the higher % sh but if I buy a gallon of 5% store bleach and mix it with a gallon of water it will put me at a 2.5% mixture correct. Or am I missing something? How much say dawn should I add to a 2 gallon mixture?. This building is vinyl and has black and green mold.

thanks

Your math is right, but store shelf bleach is 6%. It would be useless to dilute it because (if you are downstreaming) it will GREATLY reduce the strength of the bleach when it actually gets to the wall. Your best bet is to get a 5 gal bucket, fill it with 6%, and put in about 10 oz of liquid soap and downstream it. Adjust the soap to fit your needs. If you need it to cling more, add more.

Oh, and fill out your signature. More people will be likely to help when they know who they are talking to.

Thanks for the help. I don't down stream on vinyl, I use a pump up sprayer with the mixture and then rinse. This is a great forum.

Check the label.
A lot of store bleach is only 3% now.

tell us

Why don't you downstream on vinyl? Do you downstream on other surfaces?

i'm curious too. why not downstream on vinyl? apparently i have been doing something wrong for the past 17 years.

And while you adding stuff to your mix, add a couple of good squirts of liquid rinse aid - the stuff you put in your dishwasher; it will greatly reduce spotting on the windows. If you are seriously going to use a pump-up, you won't want - or need - more than a bout 1% dilution, so 1 gal bleach in 6 gallons would be fine. A 2% solution for the foundation where the is sometimes a few inches of heavy-duty green gunk.

I do have a DS set up and use it on Large machinery all the time. My customers that have been wanting to have there houses done are very worried about there plants . So I was using a pump up to limit my spread of SH. My mixture I was using was about 1 quart of bleach to two gallons of water. It worked fine with a hot water rinse. But I am in for new or better ideas that is why I joined this forum . To do a better job and reduce costs. Thanks for all your help.

Yeah water the plants before and after, learn to ds. You will save tons of time. Use the search option and you will find alot of stuff about ds. You only have to worry about one hose for everything. Keep plugging you will get it.

When you DS what is a good ratio to start out with . 20 to 1 ?

Thanks for the help .

Water down the plants before and after. Downstreaming will make your life much easier and make the job go much faster.

What ratios of chlorine to water are you guys d.s.'ing at? If done correctly pre-wetting the plants isnt neccessary. I never pre-wet landscaping and never have any problems. Just curious.

You want the injector to pull 10-1 or less.
