Sprayers

We apply degreaser thru the machine with a foamer. No Problem. When we need to do a little touch up we use small plastic spray bottles. These are good for maybe two jobs, then they dont work anymore. We have used pump sprayers and overall they have proved to be dangerous. The employees sometimes get careless and Boom! The pump sprayer exploded. Once a guy mixed the caustic and water right in the pump sprayer. The heat produced from the mix and then the added pressuer from the pump caused it to explode.
So what I would like to know from you all, has anyone found a heavy duty spray bottle? Got to keep it simple.

Hey Ed....you must be mixing the chemical too fast for it to explode. I used a pump up for 2 years before I had a foamer without incident. What chemicals are you using? How much? Why not just put another layer of foam?

Dear Tony,
Guess I wasnt clear enough. My employees are sometimes not as careful as they should be. I do not go out on all the jobs. So, I need to keep things as safe as I can. We have been mixing chemical for years also but the employees still come up with new ways to hurt themselves. I dont want them to refoam and refoam, when all they have to do is spray a little on the difficult area and scrub and wipe.
My question was , anyone know where to get heavy duty spray bottles.

Hey Ed,

Like you would put windex on a window type spray bottle. I never used them or know where to get them.

I just use my pump-up if it was that small of a job.

I gave up trying to put caustic in a spray bottle for the reason you describe. I couldn't find a strong enough bottle.

I solved the problem by putting Greased Lightning in a bottle. The greased lightning is strong enough to get the left over spots, is available at Home Depot, you can buy it by the gallon and put it in a heavy duty spray bottle sold by Ace Hardware. It is the only degreaser I found that doesn't leave a film.

Zep citrus degreaser works well too. Definately use the Zep commercial sparayers they are great never leak from the pump hande and you can rotate them without unscrewing the opening. Run anout 5 bucks a pop but well worth it.
I have never put caustic in a little sprayer so I cant comment on that one.

Hello Ed,

We use an old stainless syrup container. We install a hose in the dip tube side, and modify the other fitting to accept an air hose valve stem type connector. We have a small air compressor in our trucks to air them up.

Not idiot proof, but they do a great job. We do not use powder chemicals. Everything we use we buy in a liquid.
