Some "Fine Art Photography" at a chinese restaurant.

I was at this horrible chinese restaurant yesterday.

After feeling sick to my stomach I got really creative and shot some of the best photos of my career in grease.

I am posting these for your viewing pleasure.

Did you go to bid or just take pictures?
I know I would have given a price that ensured I never had to return.

I went there to bid but changed my mind and decided to have some fun.
They must have had a health dept inspection because the place was closed and there were guys painting and "cleaning".

The walls, light fixtures, shelves EVERYTHING had a layer of grease on it. Like a can of rubber cement exploded in the kitchen. Just grease everywhere.

The guys were just painting right over the grease on the walls.

They asked to borrow my step ladder and took the florescent lights down and were washing them in the sink. I could tell that they were about to paint the florescent light fixtures next.

I gave them an honest price to clean the ducts up. Taking into consideration how much work was involved.

The kind of price that would make us happy and eager to do the job.

Plus I would get some great after photos.

He has not responded to the bid.

He needed it "right away" and I happened to be close by when he called so I went over there.
When I got there he was "gone".

I'v only seen that once. Last July I did a Chinese place that had stalagtites in the horizontal duct. the work was done by another company in the past. But they were cheap!

Chris (or anyone)
I am just adding new photos to the next edition of the Inspectors Manual. Should be out by the end of the year.
Could you get me some pictures of being in the middle of scraping off some deep grease? I am looking for the contrast of Clean yet still Dirty, (if you know what I mean). Or maybe show a swath were the grease is scraped off and where there is still more to go and you can see the scraper blade.
Basically I am looking for clear contrast between clean and dirty -- removing the worst of the grease prior to pressure washing.

Phil, in the case of these pictures, don't you mean between dynamite blasts, or do you want a picture of the scraper bending instead of removing the grease.
Have you had you meeting in Baltimore? If so, how did it go?

Chris, These pics are great. I had to show my wife. She said, Yuck, thats gross, why do they let it get so bad? Pretty impressive stuff. When we eat out , Oriental Food is at the very end of the list. Ive just been thru the back door too many times.

Great Pics! I have seen and cleaned duct work and fans just as bad! I thought I was the only one having all the fun. Ya really need a face mask for that stuff its GD Awful!
