Slammed with calls

Getting slammed with calls and my equipment is down. Bad time for engine repairs in Florida. Rescheduling and loosing some great jobs. The jobs I lost would have bought my 2 pw unit. Irish luck.

Dont post like that on this board people on here can smell through bs right away if you need a pump buy it the pump you mentioned is 700 at best.Need a motor get one but dont sit around an talk about work you are losing cause you cant get your rig back going in time thats LAME.

Renting for a couple days or a week starting Monday. The jobs I lost were booked and sold were for this week Wed Thurs, today. It's easy selling until you have to bump them. Definitely need to reach out and sub out in these situations. Been down 6 days on the pw. Went from 1st time pump problems. Was the unloader. Now engine. Probably just a carb issue but I'm great at screwing them up. I'm no mechanic. Shops are busy with lawn guys equipment. My pw sat about 3 weeks while just roof cleaning. Now it's all pw-ing calls.
Ralph rubbing 4 extra machines in. Thanks man. A 2nd and 3rd machine is definitely needed. Actually think I'm going to sell my f250 and buy a used flatbed already rigged if it doesn't sell.

That sucks! I would suggest the following for the future:
-get a back up trailer off craigslist or at least a cold water for backup
-have spare parts at least 1 of everything
-find some good subs in your area to work with and sub them some work when you are too busy or equipment is down

Everyone should get to know the contractors in their area. I meet with Ron often and have been to Scott's yard and they are both welcome at my shop. Point being, competition in the area doesn't mean you have to cut each others throats. In fact its better to work with your competition and create relationships.

Good luck getting your gear up!

Mike thanks for mentioning subbing work out. Didn't even think of it. I don't know many guys down here and forgot our friends on here. Just reached out

It works that way for me also, 1 thing breaks and then it's a domino effect. When it comes to your local small engine repair guys, you wouldn't believe how much power a Benjamin Franklin has if you need your equipment fixed now. Remember money talks, BS walks. It would be well worth it to me. Or have a new carb overnighted, throw it on and see what happens. Time is $$$$.

I remember about 2 or 3 years ago I went all the way to Detroit to pick up a box van with a hot water unit in it. I only bought it to recondition it, fix it and sell it. When my 2011 F-450 had only 45,000 miles on it I lost the engine, turbo and more. 5 weeks at the dealership. Thank God I had the box van and drove it for 5 weeks while my truck was at the dealer getting $22,000 in engine repairs done.

Thankfully my 2015 just hit 9,000 miles, it's only about 10 weeks old and not a lick of problems.

That sucks but you always need spare parts, spare unit etc. I know that is hard if you are just starting out but never turn down work. We had one of our units go day the morning the day before we had a 400 unit apartment complex schedule. The back up was on another job the same day so I would have to reschedule it. I got on the phone and had a new replacement overnighted and installed the next morning. We were a few hours late starting but get it done and moved on to the next job.

Vince I here Ya with the truck. I have a 05 f250 6.0 DSL 80k miles after $10k in 2 years with repairs it scares the crap out of me. Ordered a spare carb today for the pw and a couple other parts just incase. I was surprised no shops carried a dang carb that's on half commercial mowers. Found a mechanic my buddy uses for his lawn business he says is fast and has a shop full of spare parts. Definitly throwing out the get this done fast, cash money and a free house wash bribe. Next month will free up some cash for a 2nd unit. Hopefully my truck sells before that for a complete truck and rig I found. But I do have Irish luck thou. Who the hell came up with Lucky Irish anyway. It all works out.

Get rid of that 6.0 as soon as you can. They're POS that should have never made their way to the road. Every now and then you'll find someone that hasn't had much trouble with theirs. But for the most part they're money pits.

I don't bs. I just started out a couple months ago and put out my savings on used equipment I could afford. What you may call slammed and me may be 2 different things. This isn't my first time in business. The difference is when a call comes I close sales. I'm one guy unless it's a roof cleaning. The 3 days of work I was unable to complete this week would have actually set me up for a second unit I new would be needed. Now before accusing me to bs the members on this board maybe think before typing. If I could have just bought a second unit I would have. But you wouldn't know that, my financial situation or me. Now everyone else offered up great advice. A couple mentioned subbing work out. I took that and reached out to a forum member 1 town over. You offered nothing to this besides a bad disposition and pissing me off. Facebook is for bs that's why I'm on here.

Well said young man.. I too thought the BS comment was out of order....It's alright if you have been around since last millennium and probably been there and done that but if you are new to anything and the shit hits the fan it can be overwhelming so smart ass comments like that don't help at all.

Yea man 6.0 nightmare. Love the truck hate that it's a time bomb. First time down to the hpop and low pressure pump $3000. About 8 months later same thing but had them bullet proof it down to the heads $7500. Last year blew a trans cooler line on the same bridge as the 1st break down. Then idle just started jumping crazy 2 weeks ago, luckily only a icp sensor. Dang man with all the towing it's about $12000. Ya it's time to sell.
