Seriously There is nothing Wrong with Publicly when doing a COmmunity Project and do not listen to stuff like this.
Be carful Bringing POST from TGS over, they get Upset6 “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]“Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. [SUP]3 [/SUP]But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, [SUP]4 [/SUP]so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Hope this helps.
Marko
Marko great post, helps keep things in prespective!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought this post in that thread was spot on, thanks for bringing my attention to it
A businessman contributes something good to the community and gets publicity for having done so. Ten other guys see it. Eight of them think they should also be helping out. Five of them actually do something and the community further benefits. What's wrong with that model?
Nothing is, helping with my business has been fun and often moved me from some of the projects. We grow in many ways
When you own a business your obligation is to your employees first. If you have an employee who is struggling yet you choose to do free projects for people who could pay without any promotional benefit I just don't see how that is giving back.
If the intent is to promote the company for the benefit of your employees that makes more sense.
There is no biblical example of an employer giving away services as a form of charity that I can think of other than Lydia who appears to have done it by her own hand personally.
There are lots of examples of the boss of giving to the poor personally.
What we forget sometimes is that guys like David, Abraham, Moses, Job and Lazarus were big time businessmen with many in their "household" (employees). They took care of them as if they were their own and their charity works were separate.
That is what separated them from the other cultures who treated their employees like slaves.
I am not big on company based charity. I just don't see a biblical precedence for it. We have done some free work when it was needed and the customer truly couldn't pay. But it has been discussed among all of us and we all agreed from the tech to the office that it would be done for free. And nobody got paid for it. We all participate.
That's just my opinion on it. Ron and I are in disagreement on this and always have been.

No one listened to that video Ron. This is the post MTV age, no one can handle a 15 minute video. Lol!
Looks like we agree more than I thought.

It all ties together. Personal and business.
You can't reap a harvest until you sow a seed. Wherever that might be doesn't matter.
Better Learn how to Separate , cause if you really Embrace helping customers it cannot get so personal all the time.
keep in mind you might do something you think your heart might not be in and find out you are correct. Easier just to Keep the business , business.
Personal Personal
If we, as a company do charitable work, everyone gets paid. If I am doing something personal, I pray that no one will hear about it.
As for cleaning a monument, that is taking money away from other contractors for personal gratification.
