No problem Ron. Hope it helps some of these guys get some business. I get quite a few clicks from this forum for all of my websites.

Great info Ant, I totally agree about the white text, my website guys tell me not to do it because it is considered "black hat" and also considered to be spamming in a way, even though it is not on your own site so be careful, you don't want to be penalized or worse from google, not worth the chance in my opinion.

Looks like I got some work to do when I get home tonight. Hahaha! Thanks Ant! I'll give it a try. I'm the last person on the planet to be called a computer guru but I'll see if I can't change it over. Good info! :thumbup2:

good stuff

A little off the subject, but UK is going to kick some booty this year!! :victory:

Ok, back on subject. You guys are welcome, it's easy to make your keywords "anchor text" and it will help. Make sure that you start with http:// when you put in the links, not just www

Nice discussion!
Google is not stupid, and hidden text is a SURE way of getting you remembered as a spammer.
It also effects the forum you are posting on!

Anchor Text is a great idea, if you have FEW posts on a Forum.
But, if like myself, you have thousands of posts, and suddenly you convert your signatures to Anchor Text, watch out.
Been there, done that,. got in trouble with Google!

As far as from a Forum Owners viewpoint, many signatures far exceed the post content!

The result of this, it makes the Forum look Spammy.

A Forum full of 5 link signatures, with one line posts, looks like spam to Google.

Many Forums limit you to one or two line/link signatures, now I know why.

Google is trying to return Content Guys.

It has Algorythyms that are very sophisticated.

Hidden Text is a BIG No No, on your website, or on a Forum.

IF you wish to keep a big signature, no problem.
But a good suggestion would be to not make one line posts.

As long as most of your forum posts content exceeds the signature content, you, and the Forum, will be well.

Another thing Forum Owners should think about is this.
The more links OUT on a forum page, the less the page rank

And, the more links in your signature, thje less link juice they receive from Google.

Something to think about ? :banghead:
