sealer?????

This is the million dollar question. Everyone seems to have a reason why they use one particular product over another. The bottom line is that there is no "one" that fits every deck on every application. There are advantages and disadvantges to the various types. The other factor for me is that I also take into consideration what the customer would like to see with their project. Afterall, they are the ones who have to look at it every day. I ALWAYS direct them one way or another and give my recommendations in regards to sealers vs. semi's vs. solids. Then for me, I have built my business on "continued maintenance" and customers that I have continued to do work for over the years. This has added value to my business. So when I go back I want a product that I can easily clean and re-coat without having to strip every time. I also need a product that works into the wood as opposed to form-filmers. I also need a product that will not "wear off" in 6 months. For me I like the parafinic products because they do as I described above. The product I use is Ready Seal as a sealer. I used to use Cabot Timber Oil on soft and hardwoods until it was reformulated and does not perform as it was intended. This was when all products were reformulated due to meeting VOC compliance. I still use the Cabot Decking Stains for the customers who want a "color" to their deck and who I can not persuade to a sealer. There are many new products out there with some great new features that should be considered and tested. The products that go on somewhat wet wood for instance. This is why these forums and staying up on all these new products is important.

Does anyone have any experience with Wood Defender. I am trying to compare it to Ready Seal. But I am waiting on info from the manafacturer. From what I have read on the web both preform about the same. I am just looking someone who has used both and has any comments about both products.

Contact Roger from Carolina Prowash on these boards and elsewhere. He'll tell you. He has used them both. I stick with Ready Seal
