Saw guy fall from roof today!!

Roof cleaning is a big thing to a lot of you guys and it pays well.
I know most of you work from a ladder or ground, but occasionally you might have to walk the roof with out any harness or ropes to keep you safe.
After what I saw today I think I am going to stay on ground while washing.
My neighbors was replacing his roof and had a crew working 2 stories high, ambulance and fire truck came by as I was leaving this morning and I followed them and the guy fell from 2 stories and was still on ground when I got there.
As of yet I don't know how he is, but I pray he will survive and recover.
These guys walks roofs all day long everyday, most pressure washers don't have the experience that these guys have on roofs and there is a great risk if you are not harness in.
For you hunters out there it is similar to using a harness while hunting up in a tree stand, we feel we are confidant climbing until you make a simple mistake and come down faster than you went up.
BECAREFUL GUYS AND BE SAFE!!!!

Had a roof today that was very slick! An older guy asked my friend and I to help get a huge pile of pine needles off his roof before we washed it! The pile about 7 inches thick and 20 feet long, even thicker in the valley! The part I did not realize was how slick the roof is once you remove the pine needles. I about took a dive into a huge Azailia bush. Anyways lesson learned. I think I am going to build a 10 foot rake and keep it on the ladder rack!

Pine Needles on roof is like walking logs in a River.
You can fall, and go splat.:(
We CHARGE extra for excessive pine needles, but if not too bad, include them.
After all, we aint trying to CLOSE a sale, we are trying to OPEN a relationship with our customers.
What EVER it takes to make our customers happy, we do :)
EXCEPT Pine Needles and sticking hands in Gutters.
Snakes dont like me :(

Friend, you don't have to be a crummy ol 'low-baller' to accidentally fall off a roof. Accidents are going to happen.
Course, as the next response will show, I'm wrong. The attitude's on this board is the exact reason so few people actually post here.

I had a friend from Graceville, or was it Niceville ?
It is up in north florida.
She would go up and see her family who grew snap peas and peanuts.
She would get em green, and we would BOIL them Green, and drik beer with them.
Yummy !
Beer and Boilt P Nuts go good in my tummy :D
I should have kept that girl, but she fell off a roof :(

Ya know, back in the 70's here in Tampa, GREEN Boilt PNuts where everywhere.
Smoked Mullett Fish too :)
But some idiot invented a dam Jumbo PNut, tastes like chit IMHO.
Plus, they boil dried PNuts, not green ones.
We NEVER see green boilt Pnuts here anymore, unless you buy green P Nuts.

I agree with you! Sometimes no matter how experienced or how comfortable you feel on a roof one wrong move can result in an accident. Doesn't matter who you are. Thats why they call them accidents! Be safe out there!
