went to the fire job and set up started to set up for cleaning and inspection, everything seemed to be OK after looking around at roof top duct and hood begain to scrap hood and set up funnel system then it began to rain out side the relized the duct work above the hood began to leak. I stoped told the owner to fix the system leaking at the seems and collected my check for the trip and the inspection then left. I hope I did the right thing, He is going to call me back soon as he can get it fixed so I can finish cleaning the site! worldwash@msn.com Mikey

Not to second guess your decision to leave, I would have work through the situation. You will find systems that leak all the time-just clean the mess up and get on with it. However it depends on the size of leak and how to deal with it-even so I can't picture not doing it. Not doing the job is lost money-now you have to go back and reset the store.

The welder might require the to be cleaned before he works on the system=could restart the fire.

I agree with David, almost every system with horizontal duct will leak somewhere, just deal with the leak and continue cleaning. A leak can usually be dealt with, with some plastic and clamps to funnel the water away from anything it can damage. If I walked away every time I found a leak, I would lose 50% of my work. A welder will probably want it cleaned before he fixes it anyway. Because he just had a fire this guy may actually get it fixed, but most people never attempt to fix a leaky duct unless it is so bad it causes a serious problem. I would just get use to dealing with it, and of course document the leaks.
