SAFETY WITH WATER WASHING EQUIPEMENT
We can not anticipate every possible circumstance that might involve
potential hazard. The warnings, cautions and safety suggestions in this
meeting are therefore not all inclusive. If an operating procedure,
installation, maintenance or work method not specifically recommended is used, you must satisfy yourself that it is safe for you and other persons. You must also ensure that the product will not be damaged or be made unsafe by the procedure that you choose.
WARNING: FLUIDS UNDER HIGH PRESSURE SPRAY CAN BE NEARLY INVISIBLE AND CAN PENETRATE THE SKIN AND CAUSE EXTREMELY SERIOUS INJURY!
If any fluid appears to have penetrated the skin, get emergency medical
care at once! Do not treat as a simple cut. Tell the doctor exactly what fluid was injected. For treatment instructions, have your doctor call the:
NATIONAL POISON CONTROL NETWORK @ 412-681-6669
1. Never point the spray gun at other persons or any part of the body.
2. Never put hands or fingers over the spray tip while in operation.
3. Never use your hands to stop or detect leaks.
4. Never water wash in high winds where over spray could harm you, others or property.
5. Always shut off the unit and relieve system pressure before removing the spray tip or before performing machine service.
6. Always wear safety glasses, protective clothing, gloves and rubber boots when operating the machine to protect yourself from burns caused by hot spray, fluid injection, debris dislodged by high pressure spray and/or chemical over spray from wash area.
7. Never alter or modify this equipment ! Your personal safety as well as the safety of other persons is at stake.
8. Never exceed the factory pressure or temperature rating of the system. Be sure all accessory equipment and system components used will withstand the pressure developed.
9. Never let the pump or burner run without water supply flowing through the unit.
10. Never let the unit run for more than five (5) minutes with gun in the closed position.
11. Never attempt to immediately run or re-light the burner if ignition
doesn't take place the first time. Unburned oil or gas may have accumulated causing a potential explosion or fire hazard.
12. Never allow children or any unauthorized persons to operate the
machine. Keep all persons at a safe distance when using the machine.
13. Never attempt to clean or wash down the machine using its own spray
gun. The machine is water protected, but not water proof. Cleaning the
machine in this manner will increase the hazard of electrical shock and/or damage the machine
14. Never leave an operating machine unattended. Always shut off machine and relieve pressure before leaving the machine.
15. Never spray liquids or toxic chemicals such as insecticides or weed
killer.
16. Do not operate the machine where combustible fumes or dust may be present
17. Do not use detergents which are not compatible with the discharge hose. Read and follow the instructions given by the detergents manufacturer. Also, follow directions on the container regarding contact with the eyes, nose and skin.
18. Always provided approved vent stacks if the machine is to be used in an enclosed area. Comply with all National, State and Local codes for locating, venting and using the machine in enclosed areas. Exhaust fumes contain odorless, invisible gases which can kill without warning.
19. Always respect and be alert to the potential hazards of electrical
equipment, hot burners, moving parts, high pressure spray and steam.
20. Always be certain that the machine safety decals are kept clean and
legible, replace any decals that become damaged, lost or painted over.
21. Do not attempt repairs or modifications you do not understand. Contact your servicing dealer or contractor.
22. Always keep guards or shields in place. Replace any that must be
removed for service or that may be damaged.
23. Do not use waste oil, use or mix gasoline or alcohol with fuel on oil fired machines. This mixture can cause an explosion.
24. Do not fill fuel tank when machine is running. Make sure burner is off, and water temperature is cooled down, and then turn motor off..
25. Do not overfill the fuel tank! If fuel spillage occurs, do not light the burner or start the engine before cleaning up and neutralizing any spilled fuel.
26. Always shut down the machine and cool the engine before adding fuel. Refuel away from open fires or sparks. Do not smoke while refueling. Never attempt to refuel while machine is in operation or if the pilot is lit. Failure to obey this warning can cause an explosion or fire.
27. Always chock one wheel (front or back) on each side of the machine to prevent machine movement on units equipped with 4-wheel portability option.
28. Do not operate the machine where combustible fumes or dust may be present.
DISCHARGE HOSE WARNING
The discharge hose supplied with the machine is designed for use on steam and high pressure cleaners. Special care, handling and maintenance are required to provide proper and safe operation. The following guidelines must be followed to ensure safe operation and provide the maximum hose service life.
1. Never exceed rated machine pressure or temperature.
2. Do not route hose in manner that will cause sharp bending, kinking,
cutting, abrasion or either exterior damage.
3. Do not pull on the hose to move the machine, untangle knots or use any other excessive pulling stress.
4. Do not use the hose if cuts, leaks, abrasions, bulges or coupling damage is evident.
5. Do not use the hose if any reinforcement is exposed.
6. Do not attempt field repairs through an unauthorized hydraulic hose
repair shop. Special couplings and crimping specifications are required for steam and high pressure washers discharge hose. Contact a qualified
pressure washer service representative for repair of damaged hose.
7. Always examine hose couplings and quick disconnects before each
operation. If leaking is evident do not use. Contact a qualified pressure washer service representative.
8. Never leave the discharge hose lying on the floor or ground to be driven over by vehicles or damaged by falling objects. Always coil and hang the hose immediately after use.
IF THERE IS ANY DOUBT ABOUT HOSE CONDITION REPLACE THE HOSE IMMEDIATELY.
· Battery acid causes severe burns. Batteries contain sulfuric acid. Avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing. Wear eye protection.
ANTIDOTE:
External - flush with water
Internal - Drink large quantities of water or milk. Follow with
Milk of Magnesia, beaten egg or vegetable oil.
Call physician immediately.
Eye contact - flush with water for 15 minutes and get prompt medical attention. Always keep batteries out of reach of children
· To prevent personal injury or electrical system damage, connect cables carefully and never reverse polarity when connecting cables. Always wear eye protection when servicing or changing batteries.
ATTENTION
PROPER USE OF DUMP GUN WANDS
· ALWAYS RELEASE PRESURE FROM WAND WHEN FINISHED WITH WATER WASHING JOB AND TURN WATER WASHER OFF.
· ALWAYS CHECK POSSITIONING OF PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT HANDLE OF DUMP GUN PRIOR TO STARTING WATER WASHING MACHINE TO INSURE IT IS IN THE DUMP POSSITION.

ALCOHOL AND CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES POLICY
& MANDITORY CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES TESTING
__________________ has adopted an alcohol and controlled substances policy to ensure the safety and well-being of all employees. Company policy forbids the possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages and the possession or use of any controlled substance on the premises, or while on company business.
The definition of a "controlled substance" is any drug, narcotic, inhalant, hallucinogen, barbiturate, amphetamine, mixture, or compound not prescribed by a licensed physician for the legitimate treatment of a specific employee's medical condition.
Employees taking prescription drugs for an illness or other legitimate
medical need must notify their direct supervisor in writing of the possible effects of the medication which may impair the individual's physical or mental capabilities, and/or impair their ability to perform their job functions. The notification should also include the length of time expected to take the medication.
Employees of __________________________ are subject to mandatory substance testing at anytime during working hours. Employees
refusing to be tested during working hours will be terminated immediately.
Users of controlled substances or alcoholic beverages present a serious
danger, not only to themselves, but to all other employees with whom they work or come in contact. Lack of mental alertness, slow reactions, and other effects of alcohol and drugs lead to poor judgment and errors that place our workers and facility in grave danger. Management cannot and will not allow the safety of our workers and facility to be compromised.
Violation of any of the following rules may subject an employee to
disciplinary action, including immediate termination:
1. No alcoholic beverages may be brought onto or consumed on company
property, or consumed while on company business or while operating a
company vehicle.
2. No controlled substance may be brought onto or used on company property, or used while on company business or while operating a company vehicle.
3. Employees taking drugs prescribed by physician must advise their direct supervisor in writing of the possible effects of such medication which may impair their physical or mental capabilities and/or impair their ability to perform their job functions. This notification must include the length of time the employee is expected to take the medication. This written information must be given to the direct supervisor before the employee starts work. All medical information will be kept confidential, and any breach of privacy and confidentiality will be punished.
4. No employee may give, sell, or otherwise transfer any controlled
substance or prescription drug to any other employee. To do so is in
violation of federal law, and the employees involved will be reported to law enforcement authorities immediately.
Once again, any violation of the above rules may lead to disciplinary
action, including immediate dismissal.
