Round Table question

What are the types of Hotels that the roundtables are held in? I think mine, four years ago, was at a Marriott Residence Inn. Most chose to stay elsewhere, and it was a small roundtable. I know that the recent San Diego Round table was held in a nice resort. So, where have they been held, as an official Hotel type deal?

Mine was at the Flamingo.

Mine was in a firehouse...lol.

The NCE event Kory and Ron put on was held a really nice place in Tampa, Mainsail, I think it was. The rooms were very nice, and roomy. We needed the room cause I roomed with Larry. Meeting rooms and conference rooms were very nice as well. I also thought the service and attentiveness of the staff was exceptional.

All of the NCE and other events I have been to have been in great hotels (if the event was in a hotel), not a complaint from what I can remember.

All were in nice, clean rooms and good views.

All were within walking distance of good restaurants or had good restaurants in the hotels themselves.

Events I have been to that were not in hotels, that was up to you where you wanted to stay but the event planners always had great recommended hotels and usually had blocks of rooms setup for the attendees.

Jerry's event is San Diego was held at a very nice, as you said Scott, resort and the prices were VERY reasonable. I have a nephew stationed in San Diego and when heard about where the event was, he was quite surprised that we "power washers" were being hosted at such a nice place. Jerry's event was excellent.

The Tampa accommodations were awesome last year. Full two bedrooms suites each with their own bathroom, full kitchens and living rooms all in a nice scenic area. Better than some "villas" in Mexico I've seen on youtube lately. That remains the best value for the money if you are traveling with your family.

Jerry's place in San Diego is always nice. We've got some membership with that group so they always treat us great and give us some extra perks. We got stuck with a crappy Comfort Suites across the highway from Jerry's event this summer for one night. It was a Comfort Suites price with all the charm of a motel 6. Not good!

I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Milwaukee a few weeks ago and was surprised how nice it was. Looks like they are following after Embassy Suites and having a free cocktail hour now. I wasn't into it, I don't care to have drinks alone. But it was a nice and relaxing spot.

In the past year and a half I've spent over 100 nights in hotel rooms. I used to be able to put my head down wherever there was pillow, but going around with Ron ruined that. Now I've become one of those picky travelers. I just wish the brands would be consistent.

One of the most restful and enjoyable rooms I had for the money was a few miles from Jim Gamble's house last summer. It was a Hampton Suites right off the interstate. The rooms were exceptionally nice and quiet and comfortable. It was only $85/ night.

The worst value for the money was an airport Marriot in Oakland. Only stayed there one night for $175 but it was as bad as any fleabag highway hotel inside, then on top of that they wanted to charge extra for everything. We got out of there as fast as we could.

I've never stayed at a bad hotel at a roundtable. I know Jim likes to complain about other round tables, but he only stayed at a hotel at one, and that was in Phoenix. So, as usual, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

I like Crowne Plaza and (some) Comfort inns, 'cuz they are competitive,
but have desks in the rooms, kitchenettes available or at least big fridge and microwave.
Accommodations make longer stays much more comfortable.
..hearted pool and/or jacuzzi is nice, pillowtop beds are a must.

In an event senario.. convenient coffee shop is a must,
and cooperation from the Engineering dept for where an when we do demos is critical.
After all, our demos are always "compelling". Eh?

Correction, Jim stayed at his dads house on the other side of Phoenix for that round table.

As for personal vacation preferences, I like Marriotts and Loews, generally. I don't generally Mind spending a couple of hundred bucks a night.

So he's never stayed at any hotel at any roundtable, yet he claims his roundtable is going to be better than the crappy hotels we all used for our roundtables?

Wow, the hypocrisy has no end does it?

Priceline.Com is my friend. I've stayed at some 4 star hotels for $60 a night. I think you're overpaying a little lol.

Guys I'm not being a dushzzz but wait till you see this hotel we have.. I made the flier already and it should be coming out tomorrow night.. I think you may be surprised.. Either way the more rounds contractors have the better... I have one in my head that some of us should be there to wrap the think tanks all together... Oh including you Tony Shelton(smile)..
What about those NY gun laws that just got passed... Stay in Vegas bro.

I'll second that. Great place and great event.

Modern times I'd say the hotel we had for the 07 PWNA Convention in Memphis or the 09 UAMCC Convention in Orlando FLA.

Old fashion/old word--- Hotel Provincial coming up at the NOLA event.

In between the Myrtle beach RT hotel was sweet.
