Ron.....Will you auction Laptops Instead??

Ron,
You have been giving laptops, prizes ect...for free to us guys on PWI.
I would like to make a suggustion, instead of us just receiving with open arms, give the guys here on PWI chance to give back.

As you know one of our guys here is in a financial bind

Thank You EVERYONE! Please Read! Landon Aljaz

How about instead of just giving a laptop ect. away, why not do a mini aution with the guys online and let the proceeds go to
Mr & Mrs John Al-jazrawi and their son Landon.

I sure some of the guys here would like to give something back.
His expenses are going to be ongoing, Maybe on a regular basis we can do something like this.
What do you think guys...think we can do this???

I would Al, this is a job for a NON-profit Org. Wish we had one?

Its not legal, I will certainly donate a few dollars Al.

I wish I could but the Law is very strict...

Not to start Controversy but this is a job for a Non Profit 501c6...But the UAMCC is not so they cannot help.

I will be having a meeting with a another org in the morning. I will mention this

The PWNC is accepting any donations of the diaper/bottle/variety type to ship to John and his family mid-January.

Since we do not looking for financial contributions - contributions in the form of any baby needs are welcome and we challenge any company who cannot donate in the form of a check to send a box of diapers, wipes, onesies, etc... or something that would aid their toddler in this critical time.....I know monetary contributions are wanted, but these items also will alleviate expenditures that cost money.

Whatever you can send - DO IT. We can all look at our children, hold and love them - that is far far more important than buying them a new toy. Help this fellow washer to be able to provide the basic needs for his family.

Celeste - PWNC Administrator

I have set up a page to make donations if it is easier to use a credit card or paypal. I will make sure all funds are forwarded to John and Family.

John just gave me a call and wanted me to update you guys....
Landon just got out of surgery about 1 hour ago, I believe they operated on/near his heart to make him breath easier on the lungs.

Doctors said it was a risky operation but it looked like everything went well.
They are going to try and take him off life support again tomorrow and see if he can breath on his on...this will be the third time.

He also wanted me to thank all of you out there that have supported and shared words of encouragement with his family. He says he tries to keep updated on here from his phone when possible.

John believes in prayer and Gods Healing and He wants you to continue to pray for him and his family.
Thank You John..... Gods Blessing are upon you!

Mike please remove the link, it's not legal to collect. Donation associated with raffles.

Thanks

I'll remove but will also state you are incorrect. I am not raffling anything. I am collecting the donations since I have the ability to set up a page quickly and am providing it at no cost.

Edit... It won't allow me to edit that post so I guess one of the moderators needs to do it..

I also think it's ok to donate or accept donation without being a legal organization and just a natural person. Every open source web application like the base of this forum accepts donations mostly via paypal without non-profit legal title. The only difference is that the one who donates would not be able to deduct them taxwise and the one who accepts them will have to declare the donations as some sort of income and pay taxes.
I may be wrong..

Mike, This is a great idea of yours.

Really Ron, this ain't the time or the thread for that kind of stuff. You're a classier guy than that post. Donation on the way!!!!!!!!!

I don't see how it is illegal to collect funds to help out a specific situation. I always see bank accounts set up for sick children or families of cops or firefighters hurt in the line of duty. I may be wrong but this seems to be the same thing. I hope this is the case because I sent a small donation this morning. My only regret is that I wish it could be more.

Ron, I have to side with Guy on this one. I understand your passion, but it seems kind of inappropriate here. It took a lot of guts to ask for help. It tends to show the fear and desperation that John is feeling at this time. Let's focus on helping out this family.

Al asked if I could have a raffle, its not legit to run a faffle in my state. You cannot not do it, its a form of gambling.

People run and do illegal stuff all the time, if you think its wrong? You step up and run one.

In stead of agrguing about it I opened my wallet.

No I'm sick that we cannot help, this is a great idea. I'm talking with a 501c6 today to see if we can do it thru them.

Imagine 15 months later and we still can't. I would think you would be asking the classy guy who droped the ball intsead the guy like me who is helping reguardless.

Thanks for clearing it all up, Ron. I apologize for any misunderstandings. Things are not always as they seem.
