ROGERS — A grease fire Sunday at Wal-Mart No. 1 temporarily shut down deli operations.
Firefighters were called to the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 2110 W. Walnut St. after grease caught fire in a deli department fryer Sunday morning. The fire sprinklers were activated and employees put out the fire. Firefighters set up fans to vent smoke out of the store.
The deli and in-store McDonald’s, adjacent to the deli, were closed per Rogers Fire Department’s instructions.
The restaurant was reopened about an hour later, after getting Arkansas Department of Health approval, a store manager said.
The manager said the deli should be back to full capacity by Tuesday morning. Cold meats, cheese and salads were being sold Monday afternoon, though a sign in the deli department read "Hot case will be closed until further notice."
