Reclaim units, anybody know much about them?

I might have an oppurtunity to get into some commercial wok that requires reclaiming. Didnt know until recently the state requires it
Anybody know of some good units or something I can make myself?

Im looking at this one right now
http://www.hydroteksystems.com/rec-hydroloop.htm
But from what I understand, I cant filter and re-use the water, but if its filtered can I drain it into the sewer?

Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You might be able to discharge to a sanitary sewer. You would need to deal with the authorities that have jurisdiction over the sanitary sewer for their guidelines. There might be a couple of options if you are allowed to discharge to the sanitary sewer.
And now, having looked at that "system" you could probably build one really cheap since it is basically a 2 collapsible hose with a sump pump and black tank.

Since theoretically, recovery is required nationwide, I guess it would be required in all of Tennessee

Hello Johnson,

Here is some pictures of what we did for a fleet account several years ago.

We picked up the waste water and dumped it into the sanitary sewer on site. We had permission from the local sanitary district.

FYI: The Federal Clean Water Act (CWA) was passed in 1972. This requires everyone in the US to reclaim. The only difference is who enforces it and who does not.

For an overview and the CWA see http://www.epa.gov/lawsregs/laws/cwa.html. (Although if you are like me it is mostly a foreign language...lol)

A pain in the butt no doubt. :( But it is getting enforced more and more lately.

I have the reclaim stuff and use when needed. It is just funny to see your 180 shift.

So tell me, what exactly is it that prompted all of this Russ?

It is being inforced and I wanted to avoid problems, I have 11 properties that I do in Gwinnett County Ga., upon getting my reclamation equipment I will have to travel back over there and be certified before I can clean another piece of concrete in that County.

Look at it this way, 11 props x an avg of $1200 each = $13200 x 3 times a year = $39600 Plus I have 16 more around that area as well.

I spend less than 10k on equipment to get into compliance and get certified by that county, I still come out ahead plus we keep working.

Just like we talked about at your rt, Gwinnett is about the only place around here that requires it. I have something in Dekalb that requires it, but very little outside of Gwinnett cares. I do use it in Gwinnett, but i would be lying if I said I use it everywhere

Thanks for the help guys. Unfortunately the opurtunity fell through.

Russ, if you do any cleaning in Tn. (which I think you do) and dont use your new reclaim setup, just be careful. The word is that eventually they will be coming down on us p.w.'ers about it.

Wash Water Control

Wash Water Control is not new, it is pretty-well defined,
and LOTS of people are profiting from it..In most cases, Vacuum Reclaim is an increase in workspeed,
Because you can spray it, and suck it up at the same time.. you don’t have to rinse !

Nice Photos Dave

Each states regulations and enforcement will vary a bit but it really isn't all that difficult to be compliant and it can give you a leg up on the competition. With the right system and procedures you may even save time.
