Reasons to get your fence / deck restored.

I am trying to put together a little list of "reasons why" and I come acroos Wood Restoration. Stripping, cleaning, Neutralizing, sealing/staining.

What are some of the answers you give potential customers when they ask (or ask themselves) "Why should I spend this amount of money to get this done?"

Im curious.

Preservation of deck. Much cheaper to restore than replace.
Increased value to residence.
It's cheaper down the road to maintain instead of restore (after resto obv.)
Your wife will finally get off your back about getting the resto.(kidding).
Preventative maintainance discount on H.O. ins. policy (if applicable)
LTV of contractor / customer relations.
You take great Pride in taking care of your customers.

Hope that is along the lines you mentioned.

In an area with almost exclusively pressure treated decks and fences, its hard to talk about "preventative" maintenance. (In my experience, a deck board will warp/crack or whatever regardless of treatment - or lack thereof.) So, the justification is that it looks better. The argument to make here is more about HOW you are going to maintain your deck/fence.

P.S. If you're talking about 2x6 decking, disregard the above. The "normal" deck in my area is 5/4" PT. A 2x6 holds more moisture - longer - and tend to "age" much faster than 5/4". Regular maintenance of a 2x6 deck is worth spending the money.
