I took my 9 1/2 yr old grandson to the range Friday, I bought him a Henry 22mag rifle. I also brought the Socom 16 with us, I let him shoot a few rounds thru it and know I created a monster !!...lol

Public Range, we have quite a few in the Tampa bay area.

As far as I know, we only have one public range in Leon county (Tallahassee). It is a great range, don't get me wrong, but it's a little difficult to get to and you have to be done there by 9:30am. That's when all the crazies come out. I saw a guy get shot out there and have been reluctant to go back...

They are real safe here at this range, but you cant control what happens when they open up the firing line and some moron screws up and your on the lossing end of a high powered rifle. You definitly take a risk when you go to a public range, thats why I get there as they open and i'm out of there by 11am.

Couldn't see the video on my phone. Finally saw it this morning.

That's a happy boy right there!!!!!

I've got to share how proud I was of Fayth this weekend at the Project Appleseed bootcamp.

Allow me to set up this video:

Shelly is firing the loudest AR15 on the planet. (It's hard to tell from the video, but even standing 20 ft away you can feel it in your chest at every shot) It has almost no recoil because of the muzzle brake, but that muzzle brake makes the report REALLY loud AND blows a crapload of desert dust up on every shot.

Fayth is about to shoot the 22 next to Shelly. She has been instructed never to leave the line without securing the weapon. (unload, on safety, chamber flag inserted)

She had never heard the AR15 fired. After the first shot she is scared to death - especially with all the dust coming up in her face from it. I had no idea how scared she was at the moment. I knew it was loud, but I didn't realize that seconds later she would be sitting in the bleachers crying her eyes out.

BUT, even with that kind of fear, she nervously took the time to unload and fully secure the weapon. And she was having a hard time doing it too with all the noise and dust.

I'm so proud of her. Maybe there's hope for our country's future after all.

The Socom is like that also it is a very loud 308 because of the short barrel and the muzzle break, you can really feel the concussion, but it's more of a push then a kick.
