Are the manufacturer oils synthetic? I remember Jerry talking about gear oil - 80 wt I think - which is available synthetic. Anyone use gear oil?

I've always used non detergent 30Wt

I use 80wt-90 in the gearbox. They have synthetic, if thats what you're asking.

Pump Oil types & grades..

Here's another copy of the chart showing correlation between different oils and rating systems..
Gear oil has a wider range of temperature protection, and synthetic blends are easy to buy for price.
Another reason to avoid motor oil.. It doesn't have as much corrosion inhibitor.. if I was told correctly.
