Proper and EFFECTIVE mixture

Ok guys I have been experimenting (I know sounds bad right) and trying to find that magic/perfect combo. I dont have big tanks like you guys but looking at getting one. As of now the porches and small areas I do on the big expensive houses with exotic plants I have been using a small pump sprayer to keep the chem down and thoroughly wetting the plants before during and after with no dead plants yet (knock on wood). I am using 15% hypo and have found that mixing about 1-1 is nailing the job effortlessly. Is this a good rule of thumb? Am I doing it too strong? Long term effects? etc etc. Just looking for some feedback. Thanks!

houses.....sorry. Hey got your message. Going to the gym and back in a couple hours. Call ya then.

We use 5-10% on exteriors. 5-10gal of 12.5% & 95-90gal water = 100gal housewash mix, plus surfactant/fragrance. How long have you been with fire service.

Wow that diluted huh? On average, how man times do you need to spray each area? Just once?

We use a special blend now, but we used purex liquid laundry detergent for years with very good results.

Unless I'm missing something, you are spraying 7.5% sodium hypochlorite as the final mix, because it's coming from a pump sprayer? If that is so,... then you are using it at a very high percentage for house washing. My house wash is about 2%-3%,....and that works very well for houses,... and you could really go down lower,.but I like to keep respraying to a minimum. I'd say you need to cut it again and add some soap, chlorine alone isn't a real good cleaner all alone.

Yes i also use about a 3% mixture and it works fine maybe 2 applications for brick.

For those who don't know or haven't heard of this company EnviroSpec manufactures some GREAT Surfactants that work extremely well with chlorine for use in house/exterior washing scenarios. At the ratios described, 5-10%, even the 3% of SH will do wonders if matched correctly with a chlorine friendly soap/surfactant product with d-limonene or another citrus based solvent and emulsifiers and gloss enhancers, etc. I am sure recently I received a flier from environment stating they ad come up with an UPDATED bleach friendly house wash mix. You might do well to check them out and read the MSDS and product labeling to find a compatible match that will keep your mix not quite so HOT yet still get the job done using some complementary additives. You will be really surprised what adding the right cleaning agent to the mix

For those that have not used PressureTek's Simple Cherry, it is one of the better soaps out there and works great with bleach.

You can use this on house washes and let it dry on the windows and never worry about it etching the glass, dulling the paint or having to buff the glass later for letting it dry on there. Here in Texas it is hot most of the year (very short winters) so I like to use that instead of most of the other brands out there.

If I do let the Simple Cherry dry on the windows, just rinse it with water or hit it again with the mix and it comes off easily, even on the hottest days here.

I even add it to my roof mix, it is very compatible with bleach.

I have not tried laundry soap but that does sound interesting.

As long as you drench the plants with water prior to cleaning you should be fine. When you rinse your chemical off, you use so much water that it dilutes it big time before even hitting the landscaping.

Be careful with products that contain ammonium bifluoride (ex:klenztone) We have had plants die just from the fumes!
