I had an issue with my chem distributor a month or so ago and they are just now addressing the issue (I was told a month and a half ago that the rep would get back to me on it and I just heard from the collections dept. today who inturn called my rep when I told them I was waiting on a response from him). I had gotten a bad drum of SH from them and I did 2 jobs with the drum of bad SH before I realized it was bad and consequently lost a days worth of work that I had to redo along with having to pay my help double (3 guys).
Here in lies the question. All the company did was replace the drum with a fresh one, but when I complained about losing money because of their defective product, all I got was "well we are not going to charge you for the replacement drum". I was kind of looking for some kind of compensation either in the form of a discount on the invoice or a discount on a future purchase, but the reaction I got from them was that of "we are not responsible for anything you do with loss of work". I told them that they cost me alot of money, but to them, they just didn't seem to care.
Also, I adressed this issue with both my rep and he even checked with his manager and there is nothing that is going to be done. Now I am not trying to get a ton of money out of this company, nor am I trying to recoop all my losses for the jobs I had to redo because of their faulty chemical. All I am asking is that they would give me a discount as form of good gesture for their mistake but I have yet to even get an "I'm sorry"
When I called to tell them about the bad SH, they informed me that they had "some issue" with their SH and I wasn't the only one with the problem. They did tell me that they would replace it for me (which they did) but then billed me for it at a higher rate. Then to beat all, they told me that I wouldn't be responsible for the first invoice. I told them that no, I would not be responsible for the second invoice, because the second invoice is at a higher rate.
I am thinking of switching to another chem company, but I will have to see who is in my area that I could possibly get it from.
Also, the reason I did not know it was bad to begin with is because I had just gotten it and we wear masks when handling SH wheather in pure SH form or roof mix so I did not smell it.
BTW, THE COMPANY IS THE SAME COMPANY WHO MANY OF YOU GET YOUR CHEMS FROM.
Am I out of line on this??? Thoughts???
