Russ, do ya have an option for the Kohler 18-24 ? We use nothing but Kohler engines. What do you offer with these ?

Thanks for the info. But, I am sold on Kohler. You couldn't get me to by Honda if ya gave em away. Had a bad experiance with Honda years ago and will never go with them. Kinda like I will never buy a ford because of a known tranny problem that they would not correct.

As the old saying goes "What comes around goes around" I have purchased 6 engines in the past 8 years and that was business that Honda could have had.

Russ,

You wouldn't happen to be in association with Bill Turner would you? Just curious.

No pun intended.

Honda is good. Kohler is building a nice reputation. Briggs seems to be a darn good motor. Honda is excellent on fuel consumption where Briggs is the worst. The Honda has proven to be a good engine also. Some you have to choke to start, others you don't. The Briggs seem to have the horspower.

Either way, we put Mobile 1 synthetic after the first 50 hours of breaking in on motor oil. I've never had a major problem with any machine. Mostly we bought Briggs.

Well as specified in the above post, we had some problems with Honda as a company when I realized I should be buying Harley all along. Needless to say, bought a Honda Motorcycle back 20 years ago and three weeks later the engine blew. Rod came right out of the side. Honda took 6 months to resolve my problem by sending me a new engine which I had to have installed. So much for customer service back in the 80's. But needless to say. You can screw me once, shame on you, screw me twice shame on me. I wont allow that to happen.

Using a synthetic motor oil is the only way to go. Especially at the high speeds these engines run. (Contantly). You are ok to use synthetic. I can not understand why they are saying no way.

We service our units at every 50 hrs, along with the pump oil. We only use cat pump oil in our pumps. Now you dont really have to service at every 50 but it only will extend the life. Whats an extra $20 for a $6000 and up machine. Not much in my book. Thats just like our trucks, Our books tell us every 7500 on the new hemi's but we still go every 3000 miles, just because of the weight factor were pulling.

Maintenance is big with me. Too much monies involved not too.

Hey Russ and Justin,

What kind of warranties are ya offering on those units. Just curious. Do you have any thing in place if one goes bad ? Replacement Program ? Anything like that ? The distributor that puts our together offers next day replacement if unit goes down for major repairs. At least for the first year. Also we have to keep maticulous records of service also.

Let me know. Thanks

The warranty on APW Pressure Washers is attached below as a txt file. Next day replacement parts are available, however they must be paid for until the manufacturer of the component can evaluate it for warranty coverage. If the component is credited in full, so will you be. If the manufacturer opts to repair and return the unit, it will be returned to you. This keeps bogus warranty claims to a minimum. Example: an oil seal leak would be covered, a pump that blew up because it was leaking oil and you let it run out would not be.Warranty coverage is provided by the manufacturer of the component, the distributor merely streamlines your claim process.

i had a brand new 6 grand skid with a honda engine in 2001,
the first problem i had was a burner problem, burnt up the burner motor because the rpms were set too low at factory, the second problem i had was the rocker arm came loose at 3am 2 hours away from home 20 minutes from finishing a job.

rockers arms kept coming loose 2 more times.

once again at 2am 2 hours away from home 3 months later machine cuts off again before i am finished working.

the dealer determines the Valve seized up in the valve guide and after a week of assuring me would be covered under warranty,i was charges $250 for fixing.

Honda refused to cover the repair under warranty because they said i was using 87 octane fuel and that caused the problem..

little did they know i was using 92 octane and it clearly states on page 26 of there owners manual that an octane rating of 86 and higher is suitable for use in there machines.

HONDA YOU SUCK AND YOU KNOW IT.

it wasnt worth taking them to court but i have purchased 3 kohler engines since then and i tell every one who asks not to buy a honda.

Sounds like you had quite a time with them, alright. BUT it sounds more like a repair center problem rather than an engine problem. Those rockers should have been covered...no question about it. One time one of my customers bought 2 Honda powered machines from my competitor because he low balled me. About 6 months later, the muffler fell off and broke a stud. He took it back and was charged for the repair (driil and rethread hole, new stud, nut, gasket, etc.) 2 months later, the muffler fell off again. He brought it to me for help. The rethread was shoddy. I called my master Honda dist and explained the problem. 2 days later I had a new head casting, studs, nuts, gaskets. Honda paid for all of it, plus paid me for the labor. Sometimes it's just who you deal with. Of course, if you buy a Honda, you may have to deal with your old buddy again. I am sorry to hear about your experience with Honda.

As far as my warranty on my machine...

30 days- hose, filters, trigger gun, wand
90 days-unloader, ignitor assembly, pressure switch, high limit
1 year-thermostat, ingition, control transformer, gas valve.
2 years-heater coil, pump, frames, guards or sheilds, plumbing, pulleys
30 days- hose, filters, trigger gun, wand

Exclusions:
1. Engine is warranteed by the manufacturer, not by us and is subject to their terms.

2. Normal wear parts that aren't covered are pump packings, pump valves, spray nozzles, detergent valves, orings, belts, and quick couplers.

3. The warranty doesn't cover parts damaged due to normal wear, misapplication, misuse, operating at other than recommended speeds, pressure or temperature. Parts damaged or worn because of the use of caustic liquids or by operation in abrasive or corrosive environments or under conditions causing pump cavitation are not warranteed. Failure to follow recomended operating and maintenance procedures also voids warranty.

The use of other than our recomended parts on our machines also voids the warrantee. Not following the recommended maintenance procedures will also void all warrantees.

The warranty process is as follows. Return bad part to Hannah Solutions and we will inspect and replace the part free of charge if found to be defective subject to the warranty. You must purchase the replacement part until inspection is cleared and then we will either credit your account or refund your money for the replacement part. Please allow up to 10 days for inspection and reimbursement. Under NO circumstances shall Hannah Solutions LLC bear any responsibility for loss of use of the unit, loss of time or rental, incovenience, commercial loss or consequential damages.

russ i will give you that, but i will never use a honda again if the jap ceo gives it too me,and signs his name on it.

as a matter of fact when any of my friends who drive hondas come over i make them park down the street and walk to my house.

i dont care what departments problem it was my reputation that was challenged from the unreliability and you cant make that right no matter the excuse.

Mi-t-M stepped up to the plate for the repair and thats all i will ever use again, along with Kohler engines.

consumers perception and responsibility is focused on the manufacturer of the product not the authorized repair center,it is the manufacturers liability and best interest to maintain only the highest representatives for there products and repair.
