Pressure washer not working with tank

Have a Gear drive pressure washer unit that I can't get to pull water from tank. Any suggestions? Thanks
 
I would hook a garden hose to it and force feed it for a minute to see if that helps. Also, make sure if you're trying to gravity feed it that the water tank is level or slightly higher than your pressure washer. Make sure your filter isn't plugged up as well.
 
wow it mounted on a skid and the tank is on the floor and the pressure washer about a foot or so above the bottom of the tank
 
Vacuum break. The water level in the tank is below the pump. Fill the rank, force feed the pump, and report back.
 
That's a nice machine and it will last a long time but that design scares me.I know that it will pull up hill however I would prefer mine much lower just saying.
 
IMO Even if tank was on cinder blocks it would still be to low for the pump ( if gravity fed).
It's half full now ( or half empty ) and no draw.

Curious why mfg. built the pw so high on the skid.
If fuel tank was vertical, the pw could have been built lower on the skid.
You may need a draw pump to feed the pw in it's current configuration.
Or disassemble the upper section of pw skid and remount to floor of trailer.
 
Thanks for all the help pulled trailer out took the filter off to hook a hose to it and noticed there was no o ring. Put a o ring on and works perfect. Thanks for the quick responses and help. This really is a great group of people. Never have I honestly seen so many in the same field willing to help out each other when they need a hand. Thanks again!
 
I use a one inch line on all my machines, and they are all 5GPM. You cannot beat flow for making a pump last. Incidentally, I think we have rebuilt three pumps, out of 24 in the past year, and ALL of them work 5 days a week. Some run double shifts.
 
Looks like the warhorse from envirospec. There is always a air vacuum gap when you connect the supply line to the pump. disconnect the supply line at the pump until water moves through, then connect it back. For best results, prime the pump with your garden hose first.

Here's how my 4 gpm direct drive pulls more than 4 gpm (bucket tested)

 
My Hotsy hot water skid is made similar, with the pump above the fuel and diesel tanks.

When I disconnect the water line for whatever reason or cleaning the filter screen and put it all back together, I start the machine and let it idle with the gun open or no gun, just hose so I get water into the pump and fill the hose, I have tried running the engine right away and it did not pull water, have to idle it first for a couple minutes then things are great.
 
I agree Chris. Nothing helps a pump prime itself better than a low rpm. Slow moving pistons can create a better vacuum, thus gear and belt drives pull easier than direct drives.
