Power vs. Pressure Washing In name only

This has been discussed before but I would like to bring it up again in a different way.

The name of my company is Clean County Powerwashing. And the reason I picked Power in front of the washing is because Power seems to mean a lot more then Pressure to me.

For example Power means strength were as Pressure means just that pressure. Power could mean the use of cleaners in your cleaning methods or just the use of Psi/Gpm. Pressure I don't see that.

On delicate objects such as Redwood and Cedar, Power sounds nice in the cleaning process but pressure sounds concerning because of the softness in those woods. I can go on. I am not slamming anyones choice in what they picked to advertise there business but just curious as to why you picked what you did.

I expect a Rebuttle by Jon which I would enjoy hearing once again. And of course from others.

John

John,

No rebuttle, both are correct, both are professional and both to a point imply CLEAN. (perhaps I am just getting used to both words)

Now Oasis Pressure Cleaning vs. Oasis Pressure Washing, add power to either and it is shot down. Sure the name or sound of it has a lot to do with how we pick our company names.

If you know from the get go you want to advertise in the yellow pages then go for a name starting with the letter "A". AAA, A-1 etc.

"Clean County Powerwashing" "Clean County Pressure Washing"

Clean County Power Cleaning" "Clean County Pressure Cleaning"

John it is all in how the name sounds and looks, the way you have it fits and sounds perfect.

Wanna fight? pick a subject that incites!

Sorry you are reading the wrong page. Pressure is what your machine is creating. Power is what you are using to create the pressure. Period. PRESSURE WASHING.,....

Walter,
I guess its just how you look at it. Like Jon says either way works. I still think Power sounds better in the cleaning process then pressure. And I would take what you said and look at it like this......Pressure is what your machine is creating which gives you Power in your cleaning process. So POWER WASHING. Also in the word POWER there are other variables that can be added to it such as cleaning chemicals etc. were as in PRESSURE thats all that you see. In wood restoration if someone had a redwood deck they might be more concerned about seeing PRESSURE over POWER.

Basically it comes down to this. It's just a difference of opinion when picking one over another. I like POWER, you like PRESSURE.

John

I like the Power in power washing. Just saying that if you have a question about what you are using to clean, you are using pressurized water. Nothing else. You can call it what ever you like. In fact im changing the company name to Lots of love water washing.

I have always stuck with Pressure Washing. It was easy and I have found believe it or not, alot of customers I have dealt with didn't like the term Power Washing because it implied, to them, that damage could be done. I know it seems stupid, But that I have heard from a handful of customers over the years. So, I stayed with pressure washing.

I had this problem when I picked out my name, but I went with Power washing. I liked it better. The people here where I live like power better they thing power is better because it shows strength and sounds like it is going to work better. There is only one other guy near by who does this line of work and he is pressure and people are chooseing me beacuse I am power. I know sounds corny but hey what ever works. For me POWER is the way.:D

name

The name of my company is Mighty Bright cleaning services.. no power, no pressure just cleaning. I do have power washing on my one trailer to advertise the service that truck does. We should have a name. We provide a service that people need, yet their is no name. Plumber, electrician, carpenter, copier repairman, the guy that cleans the sidewalks. We need to settle on a name. Then we should all go by that title. Are we not an industry.

I really dont think it matters either way. Ask ten peoples opinion, and your bound to get ten different answers.

Walter took the words out of my mouth.......my company name also says "cleaning services" rather then power or pressure..or water, or whatever.

I wanted to keep the name very general, so that I could branch out into just about anything.

P.S.

The name of this board contains "pressure washing". So.....I guess we all know how Ron feels about the issue.

I also do not use neither one....Triple L Washing Service..........I'll wash almost anything but may not be able to clean everything b/c of lack of chemicals on hand

Did i miss something or what???

Kendra said pressure

and 90% of us dudes say power........there has to be something there huh.......

chicks................pressure
guys..................POWER

just my thought >>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Now just you hold on a sec here Dan S., I use "pressure" in my business name so does that make me FEMALE? On second thought don't answer that:)

Bigboy has a point there too, how his business name is implies he will clean anything he can for money and he does that too.

Mike and others that have to winterize look for ways to keep making a living during the winter so the word : CLEANING SERVICES" would be the correct wording for a lot of you.

Walter, if as an industry we could truly settle on one word and if we as an industry 100% used the same word, either "pressure" or "cleaning" that would be a miricle in itself. It will never happen, how would we get those that are not legally in business to agree? those fly by nights, the low ballers to agree with anything as an industry standard?

Picture this, instead of of "Power Washers of North America" it is "Cleaning Washers of North America".

I don't have cleaning, pressure or power in my company name. I want to be able to do whatever I want under the Corporate umbrella. That means if there things that I want to clean and feel that I can then I will because I am not limited.
That is just my thought.
BTW, Mike, Ron's company name is Propowerwash. SO I guess he is AC/DC or something. (That last comment was my really rude alter ego. I am going to put him back in his cage now.)
Scott Stone

I have an alter ego company I use called Advanced Surface Technologies. This allows me to do just about anything related to this industry. Without giving away too much.

MY YELLOW PAGES DOES NOT EVEN LIST POWER WASHING,ONLY PRESSURE WASHING. SO....IF A CLIENT IS LOOKING FOR THIS SERVICE, THEY WILL WIND UP CALLING A COMPANY LISTED UNDER "PRESSURE WASHING". SO WHEN THEY CALL ME THEY WILL PROBABLY EXPECT ME TO BE TALKING ABOUT (HERE WE GO AGAIN) "PRESSURE WASHING." JUST A THOUGHT. ....DANIEL COSGROVE

I think pressure washing fits best. This is what I have found with my limited experience to date. My yellow pages list pressure washing.
