Possible?

This is part of a store front sidewalk. The owner says it is basically small gravel applied to an epoxy base. It is very thin, about an inch thick. In places you can see the base materials used in it's making..
Oh yeah... It has gum to be removed...
I don't think this could take any pressure at all,or heat...
Is there a way to get this clean or should I pass?
Thank you
Thomas

Thomas. We have alot of walkways, pool decks etc Here in Florida... that have river rock just like that. They are a pita sometimes especially if the sealer is faulting. I would take the job! Tell them they may need to patch any areas where there is alot of loss and that the whole thing should be re-sealed with a clear coat sealer. They sell patch kits for it and the sealer can be bought just about anywhere. Sounds like a good upsell job for you and I'm sure in the end they would be very happy with the outcome.

Looks like a "No Win" situation to me. Even if you get the gum up looks like it's coming apart already. A couple of months from now you may get a call saying you messed up his concrete. I'd run not walk away from this one. If it's a PM with a bunch more work maybe a test area with a disclaimer in a contract. One time customer don't do it.

Crank up the heat and reduce the pressure a lot and start from far away to start it melting then a little closer to remove it. If it is epoxy, it will hold up. I have done one like that where it was like home-made and not that strong but I did tell them the risk first and they were ok, actually they were about 20' away watching and were amazed. I would not let them get any closer.
