Pool screens

Pool screens... Are they all huge PITA for everyone, or am I just missing something? I have been spending WAY too long doing them. I wash the pool deck and then I spend forever trying to bottleneck the muddy water out the screen door and then have to wash all the dirt and leaves that get stuck in the cracks. I downstream the screens and then rinse them off. Wash them on both sides, and then have to wash them again because they turn out Streaky. Don't even get me started about reaching high peaks right over the pool.

Rinse them down, and then wipe them down with rags thoroughly. Its crazy how much stuff we do that is not with a power washer.

Really? I don't think rinsing them down will get rid of all the green mildew.

You may need a stronger mix if its not eating up the mold right away. A good downstream with a 0030 tip always gets it clean. I agree, some cages can be a pita to clean but they are money makers.

Your right. I probably am not getting hey strong enough mix. I think I am still having injector issues. (As mentioned in another thread.) I am downstreaming undiluted 10% SH and roof snot. Still not getting everything clean on the first pass. I have tried different injectors but it does not help. I think all my injectors just wore out prematurely. That is the last time I buy Allison injectors. Or Allison anything for that matter.

How do you charge when there's a lot of leaves and sticks and stuff?

I've been charging about $200-250. That is a lot considering I only get $150- $200 for a single story house.

Once that debris builds up it takes a lot of time and water to push it. Try and scoop up most of the dirt instead of pushing it, even a simple wet vac will save you time. Like mentioned make your mix a bit stronger and try to cover better sometimes a side to side and top to bottom criss-cross pattern will help. You could also lightly brush them.

How many gpm are you using on the screens?

We find it easier to use the 5.5gpm machines on pool screens and decks than the 8+gpm machines. In terms of of your mix, if it is 10% Sodium Hypochlorite with a surfactant, you really shouldn't be having a problem with spraying, decent dwell time and rinse off... and second pass should definitely take care of it.

I've used Super Suds Suckers for 4 years and never had a problem, never had a problem with the General Pump injectors either.

In terms of pushing debris out of corners and reducing 'overspray' problems on the pool cage frame, don't let anything dry out, otherwise you will be cleaning it twice. I will sometimes use a broom to push the mud, sticks, debris out of the door, then follow with rinsing/washing out. Play with different nozzles and side to side/forward action, you will get there!

Sorry guys but please do not add info unless you know what you are talking about, dis information helps no one. Josh when it is this cold out the chem does not work well. We heat the water up to get them gases moving just don't heat it up to much that you burn it off. It may also be your downstreamer, the amount of hose you use(back pressure), type of tips. We downstream the chems on, then pull the chem line on the downstreamer out and rince with the soap tip and the mold melts off like butter. Your pricing is right, average cage and deck for us is $175 to 225 and can be done in 45-1hr.
