plan-it graphics

This past Thursday I went to the GIE-EXPO and met Bob from http://www.plan-itgraphics.com/
and http://www.rjdgraphics.com/ seemed to be a good guy. He is looking to start helping pressure washing company's. The one subject that came up was his dependability. Bob said he would not let anyone down and answer the phone. So if you are looking for a company that puts out a professional looking product give them a call.

cool, then it would have been nice of him to send me my cd with my logo after I paid him for it several months ago!

He was VERY helpful until I paid him and then he never followed through and sent me what I paid for, I have not chased him I figured he needed my money more than I needed my logo.
Well, that settles that! Glad we have this forum to clear things up!

Russ pm sent....

That sucks... I was considering using him.

Some of his postcards are nice although if I was to pay $150 to design my postcards I would not want them to look like someone elses card there is 4 cards on his site that have the same image in the background.

I would like to see that Russ gets what he paid for as well. Before any business is going to be done with him

Stick with KBK very good.

Roger That Hal!!!

Although a few guys have had trouble in the past, I never have with Keith & I'll stick with him.

I have depended on Keith for 3 projects this year, and he never failed to deliver.

Hope I'm judged on my accomplishments & not a couple of mistakes.

He made and attempt, offered to refund my money and still send the cd I never got.

Its a moot point now I have moved on and had it done somewhere else.

I asked for a new logo, he did it, he asked for my address and I sent that in a separate email, he said he didnt get it, no problem! My point was that if I had something you paid for I would have followed up and tried to get it to you. I didnt follow up when it had not showed up after two weeks and I just did something different, no biggie. I am sure he will not let it happen again.

I get what your saying, but how many will actually know that your postcard is similar to a guy in Utah??? Your customers won't.... I have used Keith on about about 10 different projects and every time he nails it. I have noticed this about graphic designers as a whole, the good ones are "creative, artistic, free spirit" type people and those people work at their own time and pace.....that's what makes them good. Not the best for customer interaction, but it is what it is and you have to work with them and be patient. Kind of like a customer calling you in may to drop everything and come do their driveway that day across town when your backed up for 4 weeks....

How have your respones been with the cards? 5%? 2%? 0.5%?

he did credit my money, but it was not about the money, it was about needing the logo when I needed it, still never got it but then again I dont need it now.

Personally I didnt want to hurt his feelings, I asked for a logo and I figured he did the best he could with it for 50 bucks so I just said I liked it and moved on.

Still it was a crazy deal, I paid him for what he did, never recieved my product and then I was the bad guy because he didnt follow up, go figure?

I hope my post is allowed, and not removed. I'm not her to defend myself. I'm here to let people know I'm human, and I make mistakes. With Russ, I believe there was some communication problems on both of our parts. Regardless it was an error and once I was directed to this post, I immediately did everything in my power to rectify the problem. As a previous poster said... "Hope I'm judged on my accomplishments & not a couple of mistakes." Not only do I do have the graphic design business, I also own a lawn care company. Very similar customers as you pressure washers deal with. So I'm am very used to getting calls from my customers with weed problems, fungus problems, etc. I think what makes a good business owner is not one that expects perfection (although we all, myself included, try to achieve it), but one who is able to make the customer happy not only when they have a concern, but when the owner can admit a mistake and correct it.

As to the comment by: extremecleantn... You are correct, I do use the same pictures sometimes. Allow me to explain. The pictures I purchase are not cheap. When you actually read the usage-rights on a royalties free images, the pictures end up costing sometimes over $100 each. I have purchased dozens of pictures over the years, for my customers to use. When a customer doesn't want to purchase his own pictures, or cant supply any he has taken, I have to use the images I have. On a similar topic, if a customer provides images, I assume he/she has the right to use them. The problem with the internet, is that pictures are too easily stolen. MY ADVICE... If you are one of those people who doesn't want your pictures stolen, make sure you watermark your image!! Locking the image(so it can't be "right clicked") doesn't work. There is a "PrtScrn" button on the keyboard and the picture can be taken just as easily.

I hope this post stays, I think I've done my best to show I'm an honest guy.

Thank you,
Bob Daniels

We have used Bob at RJD Graphics for years now, so I was very surprised to see this thread about his business. Bob has always been unbelievably easy to work with and easy to get in touch with (and we are 1200 miles away from him). He has designed our logo, created our fliers, business cards and postcards and we have always been very happy with his work. I understand that when you are in the service industry there are times when things don't go as smoothly as you'd like (honestly speaking, we have all been there once or twice, I'm sure) but it shows a significant amount of integrity for someone to respond to a post like this and apologize for his role in the mis-communication. Let's face it: It takes two people to make a good relationship, whether its business or personal. We are all human. Riptide's opinion of RJD Graphics hasn't changed; we will continue to use Bob for all of our design needs.

It's been a while since I've been on the board, but I did a job recently I though I would share. I did the logo and the flyer itself. What do you think?

I personally have a couple of tiny issues, but the customer was very insistent on what she wanted. When I get a job, I do my best to offer advice based on all the previous materials I've designed. Sometimes, it's good, sometimes it may even be bad, but it's always something to think about. Ultimately I do whatever makes the customer happy in the end.

One big issue I have is that there is no special offer. What do you think? As you may or may not know, I also own a Lawn Care Fertilizing Company, and all the marketing research I read suggests the better (and more direct) the special offer is, the better the return rate. I have people who are dead seat against this. I offer this opinion... When was the last item you bought anything, a TV, a camera, a car, a whatever, and didn't look for a coupon, or the best price? I TOTALLY understand (especially in a service business as mine and yours) you are paying for the quality of service, HOWEVER marketing materials DO NOT show the service they get until they get it. I believe advertising gets you NEW customers, your quality service KEEPS your customers(It doesn't hurt word of mouth either).

Do you all agree or disagree? It would be an interesting topic either way.
