Route 50 near the Great Southern Shopping Center in Bridgeville has reopened to traffic, about 5½ hours after a fire at the Crazy Horse Restaurant forced authorities to close the road.
The fire, which started shortly before 7 a.m., caused more than $1 million in damage to several stores at the shopping plaza, said Bob Full, Allegheny County's emergency management coordinator.
About 17 fire departments and as many 200 firefighters were called to the fire, which is believed to have started in the restaurant's kitchen, Full said.
The cause has not been determined because authorities have not been able to enter the building, which still was smoldering and considered unstable.
The restaurant's walls bowed due to the heat, and the roof collapsed in the rear of the building.
Five nearby stores sustained heavy smoke damage, and numerous others in the shopping plaza had water damage, Full said.
No injuries were reported.
