Got a call at 9:00 last night. A customer bought some Aluminum Brightener from me for rust stain removal. He put it in a Simple Green spray bottle for application without labeling as such. His 17 year old daughter went into the garage to find something to clean the interior of her car. Simple Green oughta work, right? She sprayed it in paper towels being held in an ungloved hand, and gave her car a wipedown. Went to her dad complaining of a burning sensation. They called me and I advised them to take her to the ER and tell the doctor that this is a hydrofluoric and sulfuric compound, and to use Calcium Gluconate on it.
I called him this morning to check her status...she's fine. A little redness, may lose a fingernail, but none the worse for wear. Then I thoroughly chastised him about mislabeled products and improper storage.
If it ain't in the original container, relabel the new one, and always keep it stored away to prevent accidents.
