People, let's be careful...

Got a call at 9:00 last night. A customer bought some Aluminum Brightener from me for rust stain removal. He put it in a Simple Green spray bottle for application without labeling as such. His 17 year old daughter went into the garage to find something to clean the interior of her car. Simple Green oughta work, right? She sprayed it in paper towels being held in an ungloved hand, and gave her car a wipedown. Went to her dad complaining of a burning sensation. They called me and I advised them to take her to the ER and tell the doctor that this is a hydrofluoric and sulfuric compound, and to use Calcium Gluconate on it.

I called him this morning to check her status...she's fine. A little redness, may lose a fingernail, but none the worse for wear. Then I thoroughly chastised him about mislabeled products and improper storage.

If it ain't in the original container, relabel the new one, and always keep it stored away to prevent accidents.

i have a neighber who is a chemist for a detergent company.he works from home, one side of his house blew up. he came over with just his belt on, and his shoes on, everything else was was melted off. It was snowing outside so i told him to come in and stand by the fire, he ran back outside. i called 911. True story.

I'm glad the girl is going to be ok! I can imagine other scenarios that could come out of mis labled product..
I have logged many OSHA certifications over the years in industrial trades and must say I have learned a lot from their training materials and thoroughness..
Back on topic...
Where can I obtain good MSDS info online? To look at the Material Data Safety Sheets at the MSDS site the want to sell you a subscription.. I will if I have to when I start business, but would appreciate free resources as I want to become familiar with these different products before hand..
Thank You.
Thomas
