Need help with pricing and chemicals to use on stamped concrete stripping. 625 ft.
Paint is still in very good shape, the general manager just wants it back to original color of concrete.
Thanks in advance
Travis

Thanks guys,
I appreciate the fast response. How does $1.25 sq ft sound.. Too much too little? The reason I ask is because i've never stripped any paint from stamped concrete before, so im not real sure how log this is going to take me.

Pricing new jobs = trial and error.

You might not make a lot of money on the first ones, but they will be great learning lessons!

I have used taginator in the past. I am trying to remember how much I charged, but it can be done I think for $1.25 a foot. Just do a section at a time, and realize the concrete, at first, will be a different shade of gray.

Well I turned in my estimate this morning. He liked my Price ($1.25 sq) I will be doing it The week after Thanksgiving. Thats there slow time.
And I think i will just go with some regular concrete paint stripper from H/D . My local chemical company wanted about $300:eek: dollars per 5 gallon for some stuff called fast acting paint stripper. I would rather put in a little extra elbow grease. I will follow up afterwards and let you guys know how it turned out.
Thanks

You are going to hate yourself in the morning. Spend the money for the good stuff, and save the time. Of course, this is just my opinion.

AGREED!

Hello Travis,

I would have tested a spot or two before bidding.

Some strippers will reliquify the paint and spread it around the surface. Would also make cleaning up after harder.

If you have hot equipment you may be able to remove most of the paint using only HOT high-pressure water. This will leave the removed paint in a solid state so you can sweep it up.

After getting most of the paint off you may need to come back with a stripper to get the remainder of the paint out of the pores/cracks in the concrete etc.

Here is a picture of one of my guys stripping paint off of a concrete curb using just hot water.

Good Luck,

Dave Olson

Somebody, Please, Please, shoot me if I ever mention stripping paint from stamped concrete again!! Started this job today. WOW. I did find a method that works but its a very slow process. The good news is I now know how to properly price this type of job..

Should've charged them for stupidly painting stamped concrete in the first place :( You're lucky you didn't find out that the color was through and through!

The GM told me that his maintenence workers decided it would be a good ideah to paint it without asking first!!!

You can sub it out to a company that has Hydroblaster's, we have used a company for this at centers in the past.

They have surface cleaners that put out 10,000 psi and vacuume it up in one pass, comes out great and the cost was around $2.00 a sq ft.
