Paint Removal from Brick & Morter

Looking for a chemical to remove paint from brick and morter. A one step chemical would be ideal. Lots of paint to remove.

First off how old is the paint? The EPA will be up your butt if you are not properly trained in the paint removal and disposal of paint chips. Use the search button at the top or google EPA paint removal.

We've used several - lots of considerations before choosing one. Here is one project we did. About 7 layers of paint on 100+ year old brick. Got worried at one point that it was the paint holding the building together.

Like Kory said check the paint to see if has lead in it. The laws that are in place may make this a job that you want to stay away from unless you are certified for lead paint removal.

That paint removal on the brick turned out great. What did you end up using to get it free from the surface?

How much is "lots"? Is the entire surface black or is it like a "Tag"?

It is lead paint, no I'm not certified in Lead Abatement. Don't really want the job anyway, but the contractor is a friend of mine and we are trying to find something to break this old thick paint off the brick. I am getting ready to take the class though in Feb.
