Lady tells us the system went off can you clean it?

Well I get out to discover system went off means 1 fire extinguisher went off in the workout room. Brand new equipment only a week old.

What happen I ask, she informs me that while the firemen were working out the thing went off when one of them bumped it a weight. At least that's what the firemen informed her had happened. An examination of the video shows the thing just sitting in the corner all alone then Puff :triniti: Fine white powder everywhere...

I've seen the handles get squeezed lightly then slowly eject powder for awhile... I've also seen some college kids duct tape the discharge handle on one and throw it in an elevator... then pressed a floor for it to go to... haha We had to respond to that call at about 2 in the morning. I was very unhappy having to wake up but it was hilarious.

I was working around the clock in NYC years ago, and fell asleep across the front seats of a Peterbilt daycab and the fire extinguisher was between the seats and went off while I was sleeping. I woke up completely covered in white powder along with the whole interior of the truck. I was so exhausted I didn't realize what happened when I woke up and was just sitting there covered in it in a daze. The Teamsters at the convention center got a kick out of it when I got out of the truck.

We had an extinguisher mounted to the front of a trailer, and during a lunch break one of the guys sat on the handle. One second everything was fine, the next there was a white cloud consuming our equipment, drinks, and lunch.
It took 3 months for the rest of the crew to cycle through the fart jokes!

Not sure what they put in those extinguishers, but its really toxic smelling. I walked through one cloud of smoke when a fire broke out at a cafe located in a strip mall and that cloud about locked my lungs up.

Whats in those things?

Sodium Bicarb usually...if you are talking about an ABC rated one (the common red ones) and YES it is not good to inhale that powder! It is some bad stuff. When I use one inside I prefer to be wearing my SCBA and breathing air. If not it will tear you up.

In high school we had a guy set one off in the trailer class we were in. That was not fun. We were all held after school til someone told who it was. I still have the pin on one of my keychains...lol
