Since I have started visiting this BBS I have found it to be both professional and extremely informative. Yes, it can become self-serving at times but that still doesn’t hinder the excellent information passed back and forth between contractors and vendors alike.

It is sad, however, when I see other boards slip away. Boards that for years have been an improtant part of the backbone of the industry's information highway. One such board is "Dave's" at http://www.wj.net/actionis/wwwboard/index.html . Recently Dave's underwent a face lift - http://www.wj.net/cgi-bin/teemz/tee...x&forum=Daves_Pressure_Washing_Bulletin_Board and I guess it is like waking up in the morning and finding that your spouse has thrown your old, familiar coat in the Salvation Army bid. I know I couldn’t get used to a new one even if I tried.

Anyway, Dave's new site, although it is in keeping up with the times, seems to have lost the familiarity to most. This is sad because Dave's, like this board, has served us well and although this and other boards will provide us with much of what we need, Dave's has been one of the pioneering sites and you just can’t replace the knowledge that flows from an original. It is like the movie American Graffiti, no matter how many times you see it you walk away feeling just a little taller.

I encourage you to help revive Dave's and participate in that format. Think of it this way - most people find BBS's as a result of a search engine and on every BBS - other sites are often mentioned. Perhaps this site will benefit because of its existence.

im not familiar with "daves" but i really enjoy a good board. one sided sales biased-ness is something that can be a real turn off and closed door to me, personally. a good board should be free to discussion of alternate approches and techniques as well as home brew chem recipes. when a board host is a salesman it can get confined to the products that are sold.
we are all in this business together, and if there is a board that allows unbiased talk im all for it.
this board is new to me, i hope it will fit like my favourite coat. all i want to do is talk shop with other people that are in the same buisness, without being condemed and riduculed by a cloned sales led majority. for new people that can be a great help but im not new anymore. most of us in this business will encounter situations that we will not exactly know how to tackle, these boards are indespensible to our business, to be able to go online and ask questions and get answers is an enourmous help to all of us.

Welcome to the board!

This is a great place if you want the freedom to discuss just about anything, or post links. You can post freely, just as long as you post it in the proper section, and remain professional, and respectful of others.

The "salesmen" have their own section on this board, where they can post all of the self serving, advertising posts that they want. When vendors post in all of the other sections of the board, they need to refrain from talking up their own products.

Contractors can talk about just about anything. If you have any questions, email me at mike@evclear.com

I haven't been on Dave's board in a while......but I'll probably check it out again.

It has been years since I was on Dave's board as it was the slowest to load and there really was not much there that other newer better boards had to offer.

Just wondering if Mr. Allison now owns Dave's board? I have never seen anyone ever push that board before.

John mind explaining your relationship with that board to us?

To answer your question...

No I have absolutely nothing to do with Dave's board. Nothing. I have never even met Dave nor have I ever talked to him. It just saddens me to see a board this old vanish just because it changed it's format. Our industry needs all the help it can get and Dave's did server some well even if you were not one of those.

I truly hope this explains my concerns to your satisfaction.

Respectfully,

John Allison

I remember Dave's bbs, I read just about every post on it and even bought some of his video tapes that teach you how to pressure wash back when I started my business.

Those videos were some of the best information that I have ever seen out there for washing many different kinds of things.

Very nice and friendly guy also.
