ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Saturday night, a kitchen fire forced evacuations at the Seasons 52 restaurant along Sand Lake Road.

The fire broke out during dinnertime. Restaurant management ordered customers to leave. Once they got outside, customers said they saw smoke and flames coming from the roof. Restaurant managers said an electrical problem started a fire in the restaurant’s exhaust system.

Upon investigation, firefighters questioned whether there was a problem with the restaurant’s fire suppression equipment.

"They have their own extinguishing system, and they have a sensor that should've gone off,” said Lt. Martin Cyphers of Orange County Fire-Rescue. “We are not sure if something happened to it -- it is hard to say.”

Seasons 52 managers said all systems had been working properly.

Workers at another restaurant initially reported the fire. Firefighters said employees at a nearby Lebanese restaurant spotted the flames on the roof and called 911.

The fire closed the restaurant for the rest of the weekend. Management did hope to reopen on Monday.

No one was hurt.
