Only 19 yrs old...

So at about 7:45 this morning, two houses down from me a 19 yr old kid was grousomley murdered. You see it on T.V. all the time, but when it's this close to home it becomes very surreal.. They know who did it, but still haven't caught him yet. Just been a crazy day on my street. I think the crime scene RV and the last of the detectives just pulled out about an hr ago.

My good friend is pretty high up in the sheriff dept. and he was the first one on the scene this morning..He said it was pretty bad in there.
Just trying to think about the parent's and what they are going through tonight. As well as what they will think about every new years eve for the rest of their life.

A reminder that our days really are numbered and life can be over in a matter of seconds!

Brutal story. Watch your back bro with the killer running loose. If they haven't caught him yet-either way he is a dead man walking.
 
Looking at this story again quickly-- your absolutely right.. Hug your kids. Life can end just like that and from what the story says it was a burglary Gone wrong. For a guy to break into a house at that odd hour he is going to be most likely extremely desperate & dangerous.

Most burgs we dealt with the last thing a burglar wants is to find someone in the house. That is why most burgs happen around dinnertime :7-11pm people go out and the burglar comes a knocking or scoping the house out. If they determine the house is empty they go in...

In this case the worst possible thing happened. A burglar doesn't usually break into a house 7-8am in the morning. The ones that do that your taking a much different element in here. Unless there is more to this story that comes out you and your family are extremely lucky. When this type burglar is within vicinity its an ini mini mino mo mentality where he just picks a house. These type are the most dangerous.

I'm with my kids now and just hugged them a little more after reading your thread on my Droid phone. You guys had someone looking out for you tonight and the poor boy who was killed I'm sure his devastated parents are inconsolable and in there grieving there going to question why?

This burglar needs to die. I am truly heartbroken for your neighbors son. He probably didn't have a chance. It makes me sick and count your blessings because it's pure luck your house wasn't hit in this case.
 
Well actually John it wasn't random at all. The suspect was fired from the father's business about two weeks ago.. Authorities still aren't sure if he was intending to rob the place in retalliation, or if he came with intent to cause harm to the father.. I did learn that the home is loaded with different types of firearms ( the dad is a collector) and maybe the suspect was coming to get those?? They also said the victim was able to get to a gun when he heard the door kicked in and actually shot the suspect a time or two just not fatally. Either way, the victim had absolutely nothing to do with it and was senselessly killed for no reason at all! Just so tragic. Still haven't caught the guy yet but im sure they will. As of yesterday afternoon they knew where he had been.
 
I thought there might be extenuating circumstances because of the time frame this happened. Either way its tragic. The guilt the father is going to have now is totally unfair even though he did nothing wrong. Brutal all the way around.
Let us know when they caught the bastard.
 
That is horrible to think about, its really scary to think this can happen to anyone. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family

That's great to hear, I'm glad they caught the idiot. I'm sure you will sleep a little better tonight also Travis.
