On The Job Accidents

Here in Massachusetts we have workmans comprehensive insurance which is manditory. You pay and pay and pay and pay. Well, I have been in this business for over 13 years and have had only 2 acccidents. Both from falls. On one the guy hurt his back and was out for a long time and received medical and lost wages from Comp. The second accident was the most interesting. While standing on an appliance wiping down the inside of the hood my employee slipped. He grabbed the grease track and fell. The grease track cut his fingers to the bone. Cut four tendons. He needed a 5 hour operation to reattach the tendons and now is in therapy. He was a part time employee, working about 10 to 20 hours a week. He had only been working for me a month. Now he will be receiving $90.00 a week workmans comp, plus a few thousand for the scar. The operation alone cost $10,000 ! Not including the doctor, emergency room etc. This was covered by the Workmans comp and they will no doubt get all their money back plus, but I am glad I had it.
Anyone else feel like sharing?
