Oklahoma Rocked by Tornados

NORMAN, Okla. — Tornadoes ripped through parts of the Southern Plains on Monday in an outbreak of violent weather that killed five people, tossed cars off highways, flipped mobile homes and sent baseball-size hail crashing through windshields, officials said.

Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management spokesman Jerry Lojka said two people were killed Oklahoma City and three were killed in Cleveland County, which is south of the city. The agency did not have any additional details, including how the people died.

Officials reported that at least 58 others suffered injuries throughout Oklahoma in the daylong onslaught. Two of the injuries were critical. In some neighborhoods in Oklahoma City, emergency workers were going door to door to make sure everyone was accounted for.

The storms were part of a violent weather system that also spawned twisters in Kansas and that forecasters had been predicting since last week.

I wonder if Obama will come visit? He sure didn't during the ice storm or nashvilles recent floods. Barack Obama doesn't care about white people.
 
I never understood why any politician needed to spend taxpayer dollars to fly over a disaster area and make a feel good speech.
 
Obama doesnt like white people LOL that was a good one/ After it was all said and done, there was a total of 27 tornados that touched down in Oklahoma yesterday. 5 confirmed dead. 73 injuries and some still missing. Just another day in Oklahoma this time of year. We havent had major out breaks in awhile so we are due.

I agree. But a person cant excoriate a president for "not caring" then do the exact same thing. if Bush was a racist, so is Obama.
 
I have a feeling the people in Oklahoma / Nashville didn't stand around helplessly looking at each other waiting for the government to fix everything.

Hey Chief, why is hate speech and racism only associated with white people? Where are the Rev Jesse and Al to help Oklahoma and Nashville out?
 
I lost my Slinky to a tornado that touched down just behind our house Utica, Michigan.....I remember the slinky being tangled up in the apple tree that was blown apart in the back yard. It was like 20ft from the house. The trunk of the tree had split into 7 sections and the tree was just laid open and scattered, but at the ground about 6in up the trunk was still one piece.

Family talks about that storm sometimes, mom told me she thought we were goners. Dad trying to nail up windows, doors blown off the hinges and away they went!

.....I only remember the tree laid open with my slinky in it.
 
Tornados are some very serious S***. May 3rd 1999 was like seeing a bomb go off and destroy everything. When we drove through ( previous job ) we were looking for our customers houses to see if they were ok. One of them and his family was hunkered in the hall way with the mattress he was renting from us. The mattress, hall and family was the only thing left. The rest of the house was gone. Total destruction for miles and miles. Have never seen anything like it and dont want to ever see it again.
