Now y'all know where all the good college Coaches used to go...

I was so stupid to not bring a camera with me to my last football banquet. It was Christmas time in 88 during my senior year. The kids in this photos was my good friend Davy and Kelly. She was a cheerleader and he was old #44 our middle line backer. All 5'8 of him or so. You know we had some talent for Bowden to personally come to our banquet. He ended up with a 6'4 280 lb TE that ran a 4.4 40. He started his Junior year, but because of some stupid actions got kicked off and Lonnie Johnson took over and then went on to the NFL.

Bowden asked me to come try out for the team and I said I would be a good talent for him except for one thing and he asked "whats that Son" I said that when we played the Gators I had to help them win and he laughed and said maybe FSU is not a good fit for you and hugged my shoulders lol.

On a side note. That couple started dating in middle school and have been married ever since after HS...one of those couples indeed that define HS love!

Cool Story, did you play college ball anywhere?

Not too many stories of relationships lasting that long.....I started dating my wife when I was 16, a junior and she was a senior. We have been together since then and have never broken up once. 20 years and 4 kids later we are still together and love each more than ever.

Nope, I had offers to play at Penn State when Collins and Brady were there, NC state, South Carolina, Maryland, Meechigan, Liberty and a few others. I was young and dumb as it goes. Wanted to go in the family business. I played against Brian Dawkins when he was a Sophmore. My Cousing was in the starting D back field and good friends with him since their child hood days. How different things could have been huh :shocked2:

I told Joe PA I was a Southern biy and would not ever play for some Yankees and laughed lol. Now I live in PA...c'mon man!! lol

Sounds like you should have kept the smart ass comments to yourself when you were talking to coaches!!!! Just kidding....everything happens for a reason.

Seemed like back in those days most of the players for Florida or FSU came from Jacksonville, Fl so every year you turned on the TV it was someone you played with or a cousin or little Bro of someone you knew.

James Collins came from my HS a few years behind me to play with FSU then the NBA. Leon Washington came from my HS a few years behind me as well to play with FSU then the Jets now the Seahawks.

I even went to the same school for 7th grade that Bob Hayes attended as a HS. Turns out he actually helped out with our football team in a non official role during my 10th grade year back during the 86-87 year. I also grew up in the same rough EastSide hood as he did. Sad that alot of my friends kind of poked fun at him and called his bullet in a young cocky way kids do that have the John Wayne walk and Mickey Mouse hind parts.

I played HS basketball against a guy named Hassan Jones, played at FSU and later for the Vikings. Also grew up with and played pee wee football with Gene Chizik, coach at Auburn. We are all from the Clearwater, Fl area which is where I grew up, and started my PW careeer in high school.
