I can not find Sodium Hypochlorite liquid anywhere near me. If I am downstreaming from my pressure washer what else can I use? Tablets? I do not know much about this chemical yet and never had a pool.
Thanks
Pat L

quit looking for pool stores and call chemical distributors....you will have to buy it in 55 gal drums probably and most places will require you buy 2 drums....it varies from region to region, but for most of us around the country, this is how we have to buy it.....

The guys in FL just pull up to a station and fill up like a gas station with SH.....thats the reason everyone gets into pressure washing down there lol

Thanks, I am not busy enough to buy it in such quantity yet. I did locate a local chem company but they wont sell small quantities either. Don't blame them. Sure does make it hard to get started though. How long is the stuff good for if you purchase it in a drum?

Pat, liquid pool shock is 10% and that is what I use every day. If you find a pool supply store around you, once you start buying with frequenct they will cut you a good deal. You'll be able to buy at "wholesale prices" I get mine here for just over $1.50 a gallon. I buy by the case, 4 1gallon jugs and get 8-10 at a time. I can't get the chemical suppiers to deliver as I live in a rural area and they can't get the trucks in my driveway.

we pull up and fill up here too in the Mobile and Pensacola area, just got back from the Love store myself!

You know, I always thought that was how's it's done everywhere... I was going to suggest just drive around any industrial zone looking for a tall plastic cylindrical silo. It's likely an sh refill station. Perhaps there's some money in opening up filling stations around the country...

We have a few 'fill up' places here in Houston but unfortuantely its a 45 minute to 1 hour drive 1 way from where I am at. So to do that it's taking minimum 2 hours each time, (longer if there is a small fender bender that can tie up 6 lanes of traffic for miles cause everyone has to slow down and look) gas, plus the time it takes to get it filled up, there service aint great as I have tried it, and they want 48 hours notice so they can be "ready".

I'm tellin ya , it's hell living in Houston.

Me likes my way....Mucho easy!

So is that a place that you buy from or is that your tank Larry?
Haha! I would love to have my own tank. No, that is where I buy mine.

Most of you guys are an exception to the rule. The closest place to me like that is over 2 hours away. I think it's also a costal thing with areas of the country that have alot of pools or a high metropolitan area.

To answer your first question, I would check with guys who are not in your service area but are still within driving distance from you to see if they will sell you 15-20 gallons at a time. It is very rare to find a chem supplier who will sell you low quantities or if they will, they charge you a fortune for it. I personally pay around $190 for 2 drums shipped to a wearhouse.

If your just doing a few houses, 15-20 will go pretty far, but if your doing roofs, your going to need way more than that.

There is a ton of PW in NC and a ton of them on this board. It wouldn't hurt to try to hook up with one of them that won't be your competitor....

Hey Pat I buy mine at Caribbean Pool Service in Concord they will fill 5 gal and up I just picked up 60 gal day before yesterday $1.85 per gal.

Do you have the address for this location or a number to contact them? Do they sell it in drums or do you have to fill tanks? Right now we have to buy in 1gal jugs that cost big $$$ it would save us a lot of money to make the drive and pick up a couple drums.

Hey Thanks guys, I appreciate all the help. Caribbean pool service is only 100 mile round trip. I did a drive like that every work day for 16 years for my last job. Don't miss it. I may try Winston Salem a bit more to see if I can find anything. I am kind of out in the country. Had to put a cell repeater in my house just to get fair quality cell signals. Every time I talk I think $800 so I could do this and its still a pain. I do like it here though. Still have HF radio. Good to know about Caribbean.

They will fill any size you need ,it's a warehouse that delivers to smaller pool places they have about 3 8000 gal tanks inside their warehouse and luckily for me it's only about 10 miles from my house.Their phone # 704-795-7665, and I'm not but about 45 min to an hr. away from Pat and if he needs some SH I would be more than happy to help him get some.
