New Idea I wanted to run by you all.

I was thinking last night of a way to have niche, some kind of unique attribute about our company, And I came up with this idea.

Before every Job, you take a picture of the wost section of the house, Then after the job you take a picture of the new and improved cleaned section. Then you go to your truck, load the before and after picture on a post card, with all you contact info, and a letter of thanks on the back.

Then when you go to collect from the customer you give them this little post card. That way they can show there friends and/or also have a way to remember you the next time service is needed.

I think im going to try this, I have a color printer and some graphic design software, so i could easily make a template and just paste the picture on and print within minuets in the field.

What do you think?

John

I can't see a downside. Very cheap and proof positive of your cleaning in case they don't remember just how dirty it really was. It also shows your appreciation and that you have some technical ability to provide on the spot TY notes.

Thanks for the reply, I will post my results in a month or so

I think its a great idea, but I wouldn't stop there. Never miss an opportunity to sell or in this case, get referrals. Hand them another card with 5 blank spots where they can fill in their friends and family's names and numbers ;)

Great idea man, please keep us informed on how it works for you.

That would be good to! but how do I go about getting the customer to fill it out and give it back.

Offer them 20% off their next service that they get from you if they fill out the form. Then tell them tat every customer that they send you and you get business from, you will take an additional 5% off.

Maybe. I dont know.

I like your idea though. When we do very big jobs, we like to have the B&A pictures professionally printed and put into a booklet w/ our name and website on the cover and we give it to them as a present. We dont do it w/ residential customers. Thats a great idea!!

Great idea let us know your results.

Pretty cool idea.

Does the USPS still sell blank postcards with the (current rate) stamp already on 'em? You could either have the "stamp side" pre-printed with your address, or slap a label on 'em, with the blank side printed for the referral names, etc. Then the happy customer can just drop it in the mail when they get it filled out. A little additional expense, but makes it easier for them to follow through.
As mentioned, promising them a discount for each good referral should be a winner, too.

Keep thinking up good stuff like that. I'm always open to new (free) ideas. :D

If I read your idea correctly, you will hand the postcard to the customer, right? Well, just have a pen in hand and you do the writing. It will put a little pressure on them and they will feel obligated to name a few names. If you have a good rapport with the customer, they will be happy to give a few names, if not, they will usually still give a few names.

The trick is to jog their memory by saying something like, "Who do you work with that you think would appreciate my services?" Something specific like that. Don't just say "Who do you know"... people will stumble around and eventually say, well, I'll get back to you. They won't.
