OK, this is my first post, I mainly clean houses and do a good bit of flatwork, with that out of the way, i picked up a Kawasaki FD791 29hp digital fuel injection liquid cooled engine for $100, thought it would be a perfect project for maybe a two pump set up, or a high GPM set up for running a surface washer? I have been in the business for 8 years now, but i have to give it to the members on this site, you guys have some of the coolest set ups, not the same cookie cutter stuff you see in this business, I love the if I can't buy it, I will make it attitude. Cannot wait to here your ideas...

You can get about 10gpm and 3000psi with that engine, maybe a little bit more psi but typically you need at least 16 or 18hp for a 5.5gpm 3000psi machine.

Thats pretty much in range to what I was thinking. If you are going to add a Generator in there on the pulley system your going to fall into the 8gpm range around 3000 psi and since you want to build this machine for your surface cleaners you need to figure in using a hot water burner and the best ones IMHO run off a Generator which you can attached to that engine.

First question is how on earth is that motor gonna be reliable for 100 bucks unless its really runs hot if you know what i mean.If its a good sound engine I think you will be happy kawasaki makes a good engine that puts out great hp.Its up to you what you wanna do with it.You can send it here in the carolinas if you want to let me try it out for you.

Pressure washing engine

Motorclye engine:smash:

It wont work for you at all. So save yourself some time and sell it to me for $150 lol. Seriously That motor will only run one good size pump. What are you using for a pump now?

No hot motor, I get it... It came off a john deere zero radius, the guy used it to cut his 3 acres, the air filter housing, that is held on with an adjustable clamp came disconnected, it sucked in some dust, he told me he has no idea how long it had been off before he noticed it, engine sounds great, just burns a half of a quart of oil an hour, i am good with motors, so I will rebuild the top end, maybe the bottom end also. I would rather fabricate something cool than just buy something normal. work in progress.

On my 13hp washers, AR and general, both 4gpm 4000psi. I will have to buy a new pump for this new project, just have to make up my mind on gpm, 35000psi sounds good for my psi i think.

Great find! and Congrats! I guess it's been said, but you're going to want heat, and to heat the volume you can push is going to be best done with a 110v burner. Sadly, that requires a generator that will rob your psi/gpm capacity. But, I bet you could put together a great 8-9gal machine with about 3000psi. Run it all day on a lot less fuel than some of us are burning. Too bad diesel isn't coming down on price like gas, but at least you won't be burning 20% ethanol that is soon to come! Just decide how you want to connect the pump(s). The beauty for fabricating your own is you can fit it where you want it!

Oh yeah, I want heat, I just need to learn a little more about the good stuff on the market, I would really like to attend a cleaning convention of some sort. I cannot say it enough... I love this site, I made the whole family mad last Saturday when I sat on the couch for 11 hours strait reading everyone's posts, hats off to you guys, its great to be involved with such knowledgeable people.... Thanks to everyone for the great ideas, when i finish this build, I will post pictures.
