would it be to my advantage to get the certification for cleaning vent hoods in comercial kitchens?

I do not wash hoods. But in my opioin every certifacation you can get can only be an advantage to you. You want to look and know more and perform better than all your competitors. You can never be to educated in anything. Just my 2cents.

thank you for you input. do you know anyone that does this type of work..starting out has been tough. do you have any ideas how i could start advertising but not spending alot of money out the gate?

advertising

I have been cleaning hoods for several hoods and no longer do any advertising. I have built my business to where I have all the accounts I can manage. Turn several down a week, anyway the best bang for the buck has been mass mailings directly to restaurants with a 25.00 discount offered to customers that want regular service. If you have questions you can call me at 904-422-6067 I dont always answer so keep trying.

Delco

M. Session

Although they do have training at Delco, I don't believe they offer it to anyone who lives in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area or anyone planning to do business within a 100 mile radius of them. This is according to the Delco webpage. bholcombe has the same problem that I do. I live in the Arlington area and being new to the industry myself, would love love to check out some of their classes. I certainly understand that they are concerned about local competition, however, it looks like we're out of luck as far as Delco's classes. Delco does have a great deal of information on their website, though. A lot of it has been quite helpful in starting my own business. I just try to soak up all of the information that I can from this and other forums. There is a wealth of information to be found here bholcombe! Just try the search at the top of the page. I don't feel that I have enough experience to contribute much to this forum at this point, but as time goes by and I gain more experience, I'm sure I'll have more to say. I'd like to say thanks for all the contributions from everyone else. There's a lot to learn!
