My now "project" -- Operation Webdesign

So I decided it's time for a complete website overhaul. Everybody that has looked at my current site can clearly see how ... well ... "unprofessional" (for a lack of better word) it looks.

I went and got the new Adobe Dreamweaver CS4.

Whoa! and I thought learning Spanish or Chinese was hard! Anyways, I will be doing a LOT of reading and learning from now on concerning Webdesign. My goal is to complete a very nice professional looking website made by me.

We'll see how it turns out, but I expect to finish it for a launch of January 30th, 2009.

Here is what I want to learn / implement:

Flash
Forms
XHTML
PHP
Frames
Javascript

Looking at that list I just said to myself "you are insane pat, you are insane"

We'll see how it comes along :)

Coming to think of it, the only help I MIGHT need is some Graphic Design help if I shall need it. Anybody want to volunteer? :p

Hey Pat,
You should first work on a nice template on Photoshop then slice it up an put it in Dreamweaver save it as html and images. when you open up Dreamweaver be sure to establish your root folder and the proper location of your images folder for your site.
I am not a web designer but I do graphic design, digital printing (signs, vehicle wraps, t-shirts etc.) so I had to try to figure out dreamweaver myself and I just put my site up a few days ago and I am still writing all the content for it but I am not sure I am crazy about it.
Dreamweaver CS4 was not that hard to figure out though. I got alot of good info and tutorial videos from this site www.tutvid.com
Good Luck!
Dan

MAN O MAN your using dream weaver for your first web design? Why not front page. Don't get me wrong Dream weaver will kick front pages ass if you know how to use it right but you have to know how to use it . .. I wouldn't worry about the flash unless you really wanted to make it stand out .. .

Good luck man let us know if you need anything?

Thanks DJ, I will, lol.

Yeah Dreamweaver seems to be pretty advanced, but im pretty dedicated in learning. Also found some very useful tutorials online, including Flash Banners and Menus, all this doesn't seem to be so hard (key word: SEEM) lol.

I decided Ill use a combination of Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Flash to make the site, since all 3 of them implement rather easy with each other (all Adobe products)

So it's moving along a lot quicker then I thought. I managed to design and slice my template in Photoshop and also get some things worked out in Dreamweaver thanks to Dan Renne from Coastal Pro Wash LLC.

I decided not to go with flash, but to just use Rollover images.

Lets keep on truckin'....or ... webdesignin' :p

So instead of my deadline being until January 30th, after about 1 week I am almost done.

PLEASE critize my site, and let me know what you think should be changed! I need input! (and no, the video will be replaced with something useful upon website launch, lol).
