I agree Ron! You know first hand how others said I would not last a year. Well guess what I am still here! And I am kickin ass and doing it on my terms I am booked 4-6 weeks out. I could be booking more and putting other rigs on the road but I am happy where I am. I take a week vacation every 6-8 weeks to spend time with my family. I have built a business that is residential and commercial that has repeat customers. I have had some great mentors. Like you said nobody can hold me down. People do not realize the sky is the limit and it's only their boundaries that limit them.
My advice (to add on to Ron's) is never quit. If you had an idea that was good never give up on it. If you push and push to make it work and then quit you will never know how close you were to the light (or treasure) at the end of the tunnel.
I know my short comings. I could have 6-8 rig on the road and making more money but that is not what I want at this point. I look at a guy like Steven Button and some of the others that started around the time I did or even after me and see them making great progress and could not be happier. I hope that I helped them along the way in one way or another. If you are not where you want to be with your business the answer is very simple on how to get there. 1. A Plan. 2. work the plan. 3 never give up on the plan keep working it. 4. If it does not work you wasted a lot of time reading this board and not listening to the advice given by guys like Ron, Tony, Doug, Larry, myself, jeff le cours, Chris, Greg, guy and the countless others on here and working it into your plan.
Have a good weekend and remember to live and not work to live. Aka charge enough not to struggle your hole life and never have savings!
