okay, here are the parameters of my poll. I want to know what you consider to be "good" money. I don't want you to just pick the highest amount. That would defeeat the purpose of the poll. I want to know at what point you would think that you are making an exceptional living, and could easily meet all of your expenses. If the figure that you have is somewhere in between a pair of other figures, use the higher figure.
I have a feeling that I know what is going to happen, but I hope everyone surprises me.

Lots of variables in volved in this one. You use the word "parameters". What are the parameters of your lifestyle? Does your overhead have parameters? Does anyone in our biz, or any business for that matter ever really know when they are making an "exceptional living" or does the overhead and the lifestyle that come with that so called "exceptional living" put the squeeze on you and make it necessary to take it to another level of "exceptional".

I know some people who I'm lucky to call friends of mine who live at or below what our soceity would consider poverty level, and they are the wealthiest, happiest, and most genuine people I know. Their overhead is low, their lifestyles are simple yet full, and they actually save and invest money!! To me that's pretty exceptional!!!

Kind of a hypothetical question, but I tried.

Hi Scott,

I am assuming that you are talking about usable income, after all business expenses are paid. (Adjusted net income)

$85,000 has allowed me to have a nice house and all the toys I want but don't have time to use.

See ya,
Rick

WHere you live would make a difference also on how much one would consider to be a comfortable amount to live on.

Here in NY I would have to say at least $85,000 after business expenses are deducted. My house would probably cost less then half of what its worth here if it was in Arkansas. Taxes for the typical middle class range from $5000-$11,000+. The more I think about how much everything cost here sometimes I feel like just packing up and moving somewhere else....Of course my wife would put the cobash on that thought real fast as she always does.

Well, I said $115,000.00. To me, that would be the most I would expect to make working year round. Realizing, of course, that I won't see that for some time, being I'm just starting out. $85,000.00 seems to be what some are saying, and that would be fine too...that would be about twice my current salary, and I'm doing just fine right now. Likely most of the balance would be put into savings/investments for an earlier than most retirement. I can't see allowing my lifestyle to increase at the same rate as my salary...Never get anywhere at that rate.

I didnt say what i do, i addressed scotts question in a general statement. i believe that the more experienced and agreessive person will make more. I was being broad in the sense that what would be considered and good living accross the board.

I'm sure there are guys that net 150,000 easy. but the average guys does not.

maybe i read the original question wrong, sorry

No Ron, You were right. I wanted what it would make to make "good" money. I was talking net after business expenses, as Rick was posting.

I think good money for everyone is going to be different. I think it's all relevant to your lifestyle. The more you tend to make, the larger the bills seem to get..

That is true, but everyone has a different standard of living. Some guys might be in this industry because they can work two days a week and meet their basic needs. Others might be in it because they can make as much as Ron. It is a personal opinion thing.

I think that I will do this poll again, since it is kind of dated.
