Mold on side of Dormer

This is the before picture. I was able to get most of it off the grey stucco finish, unfortunately the black mold stain residue was still lingering. I used my x-jet to apply mixture, which contained 6%SH with a little house soap and the rest water. There is a good chance that I might get to clean a similar property, if I can get it looking good. Any suggestions?

If all you have is 6%, I would use a pump up sprayer w/ straight bleach. 6% cut w/ an Xjet may be too weak.

Yea good point. Buy a new pump sprayer to make sure the seals are good. If not, they will leak and it will burn you.

Keep us updated!

I thought about leaking...You are right. I will stick with the hand held one. I have a Gilmour 3-Gallon, which I purchased from Lowes ($50.00). Works pretty good--has an extension to the wand. I will fill it with 1 Gallon so that it will be pretty light when climbing the ladder.

Yeah what he said - the back pack it will burn your butt if it leaks at all.....not fun my friend

What do you mean from the shingles? We've come across it plenty and it cleans up fine with 12%/water. Im not saying it isnt from the shingles, just that we've never had an issue with it...

I had a building wash a while back that took 12% straight but was warned to try a butyl based product straight. I did not get the opportunity to try that so let us know if the simple green does the trick for you

I would get a 18' and/or 24' painter's pole with the acme threads at the end to attach a brush and dip the brush into the cleaner and brush it from the ground, a lot easier than trying to brush from a ladder.

On the picture, the lower stuff on the gray surface looks like it is the splash from the gutters so some brushing will be needed. The higher stuff on the wall looks like regular mold/mildew.

Give both chems a try, you might need them both but try one, then rinse and try to let dry then try the other, trying them on a wet surface will not let the chems do their job properly.

Good luck, let us know how it turns out and show pictures.

Alright...Will give it a shot and take new pics.

When you locate the 10% or 12.5% and start using that to downstream or cut and X-Jet, life is so much better, easier and faster results on a lot of jobs.

I usually dilute my SH from 12% to 6%...Add a bit of soap and the rest water. My mix is 2.5 gallons of 12% SH + 2.3 gallons of water and the rest house Soap. I DS if all I want to remove is algae and mold. I use the X-jet when the mold is really nasty, where I need an increase concentration. It sure goes through a lot of house mix real fast. Does this sound reasonable?
