That is a problem that is all around the country, too many college graduates without enough jobs for the work they went to school for.
Maybe when this happens, maybe the school should refund their money since there is not enough jobs out there for them or give them another education for free for a different field......like Plumbers, Electricians, HVAC, Construction, Carpentry, etc...... so that they can get out there right away and start making money to start paying back those school loans.
On the other hand, they can start working right away at the fast food places, box stores, WM, HD, Lowe's, etc..... to start paying back those school loans until some of the better jobs come open if they ever do but sometimes pride will keep them from working at a place like those mentioned since they graduated college and have a degree.
There are a couple trade schools here that the government is paying for the school so people can get training in several fields like auto mechanics, HVAC, Welding and medical assisting. Most of the people that are going skip out on Friday classes even though they are supposed to be there.
I was measuring out one of these properties for a bid and started talking to one of the instructors and was wondering why there were hardly any students there on Friday compared to the rest of the week and he told me that the students just don't care, the teachers were told that all attending classes (even part time) will pass as it is too much money coming in from the govenment to let something happen.
I asked what about certification for the training and he mentioned that there is not one in any of his classes that he would "certify", just pass so they can get the next herd of students into the training and start all over again. This is such a shame that this is happening and nothing is being done about it.
I asked how many of the students find work after they finish the school and he told me that a few find work but eventually get fired because they just don't care about the quality of work they are paid to do, they are just there for a paycheck. What a shame.
I had a helper that was a cousin of a good friend of mine that would help me once in a while when I could not find anyone and he went through this training ($18,000) and he finished the class and lives in a town near the border of Mexico living at home with his mom and never works. He was working at a fast food place but complained about having to go to work all the time and having to deal with rude customers.
I asked about his welding training and my friend told me that the couple places he went to basically laughed at him and the "training" he got from the school as he did not know how to weld even though he finished the class. This is such a shame. The government should be watching over this to make sure that the people that really want to go can instead of giving the money to anyone that will walk through the door and not even attend all the classes. O Well.
I talked to my friend the other day and asked how the cousin is doing and he told me that the mom is having to pay the student loan since her son is not working, just a deadbeat kid. Wow.
There is a huge shortage of welders here for all kinds of industry and this is happening all the time with the students and the training, it just does not make sense, Welders start out making very good money here, usually like about $15 to $18 an hour to start in the larger facilities like refineries but move up quickly in pay since there is a shortage.
