Measurement tool

At the Phoenix roundtable, there was a discussion on measuring using google earth. I mentioned that many times I will go look at a job, and then go home and use google earth as a measurement tool. Below is a link to a map tool that actually calculates the square footage for you. It does do the measurement in meters, and there are ~10.72 sq. ft per sq. meter. If nothing else, it is a fun little tool.

Or you can get the paid version of google earth and STILL have 3 year old maps, but hey you can get the area of a plot of land that your stood on that has a 2 year old shopping center on it. (thats not on the map)

You don't have to use it. It is just another tool.

Thanks Scott. I used it to measure the square footage of my neighbor's St Bernard. (Cool, he was in the backyard when the satellite shot the photos a decade or so ago.) :D
Really, I use Google earth all the time. I measure the square footage of a building, then I can determine approximately how many tons of AC they have.
I like this one better because you can measure nooks and crannies.

Thanks again
