Main Banner at the top of the home page.(on PWI)


Recently in the mod section we have been discussing trading banner placement with folks in exchange for our banner to be places on their site. I like the idea if the criteria where right and the details where worked out.


I don’t like the idea only because then we may compromise the site freedom. It’s a hard question so please cast your poll.

Remember this is and UN-official vote. Just wanting to see your opinion views and ideas.


Basic idea would simply be we would trade banners with distributors and manufactures for free. (No Money) just a banner ex-change program.

Remember this has nothing to do with the signature banners, any member can have one of those. We are talking about larger banner at the top of the page in the right hand corner.
 
Advertizing is a great thing. I would Love your banner on my site. Would love mine on yours. All of yours!

I see nothing wrong with it and it would add some flash to the site as well. The banner trading would help promote your site as well as bring more people together exchanging ideas and info which is what a true BBS is all about. You're doing the right thing by asking the membership for opinion, because you and I both know a BBS is nothing without good members. What would make your BBS like others would be censoring words and editing posts because your "sponsors" or "banner posters" don't agree with what is said in a post. You've got a great site and I'm proud to be a member. Keep up the good work!

I mean I know that they are there (on other boards ) but I for one dont go to them .

On one bb there is banners everywhere and never at the same place you got to be lucky enough to land on a page that has the banner that you are looking for.

when we get on the bb we post answers
and or ask questions .then we get off and move on .............

So are they really going to make the bb
if it's just for advertising other boards then that may be a horse of a dif. color but even at that we all know where the bbs are >>>>

We do have new members come to this site, many are new to this industry, and have not had the benefit of finding some of the suppliers that others of us already know of. I view the banner exchange as another way to get us out there, and also to provide information and resources to the members. They don't have to click them, but if they are curious or looking for something they have immediate access and don't have to go surfing for a URL.

Also, I would suggest the banner exchange take place only in the area where distributors and manufacturers post.

Hate to say this but Ron that banner of yours has been doing some rather strange things to my comptuer when I come in here. At times the screen flashes then every post has your banner next to it. If I refresh then it disappears but soons comes back. I am going to try my add/subtract banner program and see if that helps.
